Dozeynoo/ Edam - Really useful to know about holiday, and I will go and check my contract just in case it is better than statutory...

Bienchen - sorry to hear that, that timing really sounds very mean. Hope it all works out ok.

Thanks

Improving - sorry to hear. I was made redundant a few weeks ago (I'm 6 months pg, too...). Can you negotiate a settlement at all and if you need any help, let me know.

If they are making more than a certain number of people redundant (think 20?) then they have to have a consultation period which at least means you earn for a bit longer. In any event, they also have to explore other options, any other jobs in the company you could do (for at least the same money). Look up the Dept. of Trade and Industry employment website for loads of info - can't remember URL but google will find. If they mess up the procedure in any way you can take them to a tribunal.

It's horrid, I know, have been there myself (and with dh, twice). Hope you get a decent amount of money -check your contract in case it's more generous than statutory redudancy.

I was made redundant 2.5 years ago.

Make sure you get paid for / take all earnt holiday. Your holiday is accrued up to the end of your notice period.

I just got statuatory redundancy pay, once again the dates for this are right up until the end of your notice period i.e. D-Day for me was 31st June 2004, my employment with them had started 17th June 1997 so I just scraped in there with 7 years worth of redundancy pay.
