Need some advice about a secondment issue

I've recently been 'selected' as one of a group of people to move to another dept for several months on secondment. I have no choice on this, I did not volunteer. So far, the only communication I have had is a dept email confirming me and the others moving til the year end. Secondment isn't specifically mentioned. The new role requires a CRB type check. I'm not particularly comfortable with this, but it is a requirement of the dept this role is in. However, I was given some forms last night and told they have to be completed ASAP. Having looked at them, one is the CRB type of check I was aware of. The other is a job application form.

I have worked at this company for 12 years and don't understand the need to complete a job application form for a secondment I do not actually want to do but have been given no choice about. I'm admittedly v v paranoid about what is really going on, and don't understand the need for me to complete the application form when I am an employee of some 12 years standing. I am also concerned with the implications this has on my current role which I've made clear I want to return to.

Can anyone advise me on the reason this might be required and also the implications on my current role if I've completed a job application form for this secondment?

Thanks.

Thanks. I was just confused to get this as opposed to the form I expected. And with my paranoia in overdrive Im automatically wary. Will speak to boss on Tuesday and find out why.

No one on here can explain why your employer wants you to complete an application form. Ask them. If you are not comfortable with the reason given, come back.
