a question to all those of you who hire and fire

i just found out about a great job yesterday

i called them immediately and they have sent out an application form 1st class but it didnt arrive today

so the closing date is tomorrow

HOPEFULLY i will get it im the post tomorrow, but if i post it tomorrow it still may not arrive til monday


my question is, do all late applications get immediately binned or do i have a chance of them reading my application

(please say yes)

doctors usually are relieved if you ask for a nurse, or at least the ones i used to work with were

I shall bear that in mind..at one time i had to have blood tests all the time and it was the same no veins scenario/useless doctors

i never have and never will let a dr take blood from me or my children

or give an injection for that matter

why do doctors a)beleive they can take blood samples b) try and do so c) take so many attempts before finally giving up

or do mean it pops out of the arm (stands out and goes all bouncy)

its wierd when you put on the tournique and you are feeling around for a vein then one pops out and goes all bouncy and you think "ah thats the bugger"

you feel the pain for them and grit you teeth

it kind of pops and you have to keep it very still

so you cant have shaky hands

What does it feel like,putting the needle in?

ive taken 50 mls quite a few times

you dont feel anything apart from relief when you get the sample you need

and you feel proud when you get it first time from someone who is dehydrated/shut down/very ill therefore has poor circulation or whatever

renal patients are notorious for having bad vessels

you get used to it quickly

it was an everyday occurance when i worked in renal, so i didnt really think about it after a short time

why do you ask

What is the most blood you have taken at a time?
What does it feel like to put a needle into someone?
Is it hard to get used to?

I always wondered why anyone would want to be a phlebotomist... dealing with scaredy-cats like me all day and all that.

the blood tubes prevent it clotting

some have little bits inside them
and its a vacuum etc

and i am an expert blood-sampler being a renal nurse 'n all

you get to walk around the hospital visiting different wards taking bloods with a really cool trolley

and a white coat

at least you did in my old hospital, this is a different one
