JK Rowling has donated £1 million of royalties from one of her children’s books to help fight the Covid-19 crisis in India.

I don’t agree with her stance on transgender people but I do agree that she is a good person. I feel so bad that she has essentially been cancelled over trying to start a conversation. Why shouldn’t we listen to her concerns? I’m glad she could do this, and she has done this many times over I’m sure. She has a good heart.

The word “bigotry” really does need a rest. It is called on to do way, way more than you’d ever think was in its remit! Particularly when deployed by people who are incensed because someone has views they disagree with. Maybe the word “irony” could step it and take some of the strain

Changing the meaning of words is de rigeur at the moment so perhaps we should just let the word bigotry identify as meaning the exact opposite of what it does after all acceptance without exception
