I struggled to even come up with a title for this thread as I am so enraged I know I will get deleted and even banned if I say what I really think.

I've put the transcript of the Wadhwa meeting on a separate thread, partly as this was getting so long, also because there are some interesting questions about what is said and the history of the charitable status of Edinburgh Rape Crisis Centre

Once all the awkward, conscientious-objecter types have been weeded out by tests like "will you accept an abusive male in charge of rape crisis services?", you're left with loyal conformists. And they know they'll all have each others' backs. They're all mutually complicit. No awkward whistle-blower types left.

Bit like the Tory Cabinet, only the question there was: Are you prepared to say that Brexit is the best idea since sliced bread. Knock out your opponents and you have a clear field unless there is a significant rebellion.

@RoyalCorgi

Does anybody else marvel at how gullible people are? People in relatively senior positions, who have some life experience? It astonishes me that so often what seems perfectly obvious to me, and to many of us on this board, completely passes these people by.

This isn't about being gullible. It's about working your way up the ranks.

In an authoritarian regime (which includes most companies), the greater the horror you countenance, the more impressive your demonstration of loyalty.

Once all the awkward, conscientious-objecter types have been weeded out by tests like "will you accept an abusive male in charge of rape crisis services?", you're left with loyal conformists. And they know they'll all have each others' backs. They're all mutually complicit. No awkward whistle-blower types left.

Occasionally you do have trouble-makers clinging on, like Sonia Appleby at the Tavistock, but very few individuals have that strength of character. Most will leave voluntarily rather than keep fighting.

It pays to remember though that they admit that they view guilt very differently to the norm. So, our perception of what would make us very uncomfortable about a lie and continuing a lie may not be what that person feels at all.

This sector was particularly important to capture.

I'm also shocked at how sycophantic the host is - Yorkshire women should be better than that. I have no idea how people can't see MW for what he is. But then so many institutions have been capture by his ilk, why not this sector?

I said six months ago that MW hates women and has used this position to push a pro trans rights agenda.
The people who put MW into this post need investigating.
I read the HeraldScotland article and there were plenty of comments from blokes like myself, who think this is a totally unacceptable situation.

To think I even quite liked the person - pleasant and engaging to talk to and ticked all the right boxes for someone you'd want involved in your work on male to female domestic abuse.

They are very good liars, they need to be to wheedle their way into people's lives and 'jobs that not everyone could do'. They can come across as so kind and caring but it's all a sham, as you'll now realise Flowers

The woman (a female QC) who questioned the comment about the Scottish protesters "allying with fascists" was kicked out immediately according to her Twitter, although they did answer her question.

I can't work out if it's complete blindness to the problem of them being actually male in a female role, some sort of 'I think therefore I am (a female)' mentality, or just a ginormous ego. To think I even quite liked the person - pleasant and engaging to talk to and ticked all the right boxes for someone you'd want involved in your work on make to female domestic abuse.

@Virginiarivers

Orgasmagorical, a number of people complained to OSCR about the appointment including me. They basically replied to everyone saying they’d looked into it and saw no issue.

Mridul Wadwha is answerable to absolutely no one in Scotland and knows it. The chief executive of Rape Crisis Scotland is a TRA. The ERC board are all young handmaidens. The Scottish Government are all in thrall to this ideology. I can’t think of anyone at this point who could hold MW to account other than a court case.

How, in the name of the wee man, can they say they see no issue??

Mridul Wadwha is answerable to absolutely no one in Scotland and knows it

Fucking terrifying.

I was quite shocked by how young they all were.

Am I misremembering, or was there a big board exodus at the time of Wadhwa's appointment, so these would be people appointed since then?

Any member of the board backing Wadhwa is clearly unfit for the role and should be removed from post. But that would have presumably been a condition of employment.

The entire organisation is being distorted around Wadhwa - anyone who really cares about women is no longer able to get a role there.

So MW says ‘hopefully there'll be others who argue against me, because that's good and healthy’,

Yet those that would argue against them are expelled from the session. I can only assume MW is lying or that the organisation who set this up is not open to debate.

Either way, some very chilling statements made by a male from a perspective of the position of power they have. I really would like them to have an open debate with women who disagree with their philosophy of what care means.

Thank you. That's... concerning to read. What do we know about "SayIT" as an organisation? Other than that their toadying to Wadhwa as if they are the second coming is really nauseating to read.

@cucumbershed

I worked with this person back in the mid 2000s, when they were at Shakti Women's Aid (I was at a partner organisation). They acted as a female advocate and activist in support for the extremely sensitive subject of DV and BME groups. They also provided training, were invited to speak at events and conferences, participated in consultations etc very much as a female on a very specifically female platform. I can't say I assumed they were anything but female and I don't think others did either, mostly because of the role they were in. I feel totally duped, like the work our team produced back then is now totally meaningless, fraudulent by this person's misrepresentation. I only just stumbled across this thread and I'm so angry!

i can't imagine the sense of betrayal if you have been let believe that this person is female, in a female environment specifically for women who have been harmed at the hands of men.

It's disgusting.

I'm really sorry, cucumber. I'm afraid this person doesn't seem to care who is hurt or upset by their actions, words or presence. Working in a sector supposed to be caring and supportive, I find that quite strange.
