Amnesty International (Ireland) and NGO's argues for removal of political representation of women who defend biologicial reality

But don't worry they are arguing for the right to access surrogacy, so they do know what biology is

"Let us say unequivocally that the statements of newly launched organisations that seek to defend biology or fight gender identity and expression do not represent the wider LGBTI+ community nor feminists in Ireland."

"We call on media, and politicians to no longer provide legitimate representation for those that share bigoted beliefs, that are aligned with far right ideologies and seek nothing but harm and division"

"Even now, transgender people continue to work for reforms that will increase the rights of gay and lesbian parents in surrogacy and adoption."

@SecondRow

NWCI/Orla O'Connor are quoted in that Sunday Times piece - claim the letter was misinterpreted, funnily enough.

Shout-out to the journalist Justine McCarthy for making it crystal clear to a wider audience that NWCI are pawns of TENI since 2018.

Good on Justine. The NWCI are a waste of space. An organisation that is supposed to represent Irish women, but either ignores or seeks to actively silence a significant (and growing) number of them.

You'd think the board of Amnesty would be calling him in for a meeting some day soon, wouldn't you?

Amnesty/CO'G has been digging away as the hole isn't big enough.

NCWI's approach seems to be to hope it'll all go away.

Has the NWCI or Amnesty given any response?

I've seen Iseult's letter.
Great stuff.

Iseult White had a letter published in the Irish Times. Then there was an article yesterday in The Sunday Times (Irish edition I presume) where the headline called out the NWCI, well-deserved too.

I'll try and find the links in a while.

Has there been anything in mainstream Irish media?

Spiked article by Editor Brendan O'Neill:
'Amnesty joins the McCarthyite mob'
'Amnesty is openly demanding the persecution of anyone who criticises the woke trans orthodoxy.'
www.spiked-online.com/2020/11/30/amnesty-joins-the-mccarthyite-mob/
"Amnesty’s new role as a persecutor of people who follow their conscience was confirmed when Colm O’Gorman, executive director of Amnesty International Ireland, put his organisation’s name to a neo-McCarthyite letter... The letter, published by Gay Community News in Ireland, offers solidarity to the trans community and denounces those who promote ‘transphobic’ views. ... organisations that seek to ‘defend biology’ are by definition bigoted, it says. "
...
"It attacks ‘pseudo-feminists’ who push gender-critical thinking ...and it denounces ‘newly launched organisations that seek to defend biology or fight gender identity’. ..."

peanut, the letter was pretty insulting to the media too wasn't it?

I read it as an implied threat. Do as we say or you cross Amnesty.

The media are probably just like O'Gorman and his pals across the water tipping each other off. Bruv luv in the campaign against women's rights.

Sorry, I didn't mean to be flippant. Popi and Bongeka were unfortunate victims of male violence. RIP.

I doubt editors take too kindly to the implication they're too thick to see when they are being manipulated for coverage by alleged tiny fringe social media accounts controlled from that there London Grin, and need to be WARNED not to give them any attention Hmm

Far more likely that the Independent, for example, could easily see the genuine conflict of rights that LGB Alliance drew their attention to, and rightly judged that it would be of interest to their readers.

Delighted to see #wewillbeheard trending

Did you see Amnesty new tweet defending their letter and again calling how great Irish feminists have been to stop this anti trans rhetoric in Ireland

I'm an Irish feminist and I don't agree with any of this bullshit

I still actually can't believe that no Irish media is picking this up - well actually I can

These organisations have no understanding of democracy. Look at any time in history when extremist groups have risen to power and it is chilling. The Spanish Inquisition, burning heretics under Bloody Mary, the Puritans, the Terror in the French Revolution, Nazism, Stalinism, the Cultural Revolution , Al Qaeda, Isis, left and right wing, religious and atheist all the signs from history are there as to how extremist and terrorist ideologies take root

This is vile and disgusting and they ought to stop and think what they are supporting. Do these women really want a situation where the prevalence of paedophiles and sexual predators or fetishists who pretend to adopt a feminine gender identity or non binary, prevents their future female children ever being able to use a changing room, public shower, toilet, hospital ward, use a youth hostel safely, let alone request to have a cervical smear or breast exam or speak to a female rape counsellor without fear of being accused of being a bigot

@StillAFeminist

Colm O’Gorman loves his anti-British rhetoric when he’s talking about women. I don’t recall him ever standing up for the North or speaking out about the Troubles or the Good Friday Agreement. He just uses it as another stick to beat women with and to do this at a time when we’ve had so many years of mostly peace and its fragile is disgusting.

Now you said it! When did these guys ever give a toss about colonialism before? This is such an old right wing tactic like ' socialism is an alien ideology ' copyright Waters and O Doherty

It is no more than a shill now. Fake shell by woke blokes who in reality want women broke.

Far, far away. Sad face. We're such good, nice men.

Yes first thing they do is publish a diatribe demanding women are told to shut up.

It's Father Ted does Stepford Wives.

Love it ! That's about the size of it though.

I'm so very cross at these Gobshites trying to stomp all over Irish women. Probably all women, given the chance. One of the comments in reply to Iseult White was

@amnesty @AmnestyIreland
have certainly learned a few lessons from regimes that abuse human rights.... Sadly they are meant to be applying the lessons to stop oppression, not further it.

Whoever added Amnesty's name to that document of hate has really compromised it, hasn't he?
