If all the craziness continues, why don’t we all self ID as men? We don’t have to DO anything. We can dress how we want, be brave and beautiful, join the Masons (whoopee) and this would expose the madness for what it is...

I think toddlers can tell the difference with adults because they do look different - but with other toddlers they go by the pink/long hair/skirt= girl, blue/short hair/no frills = boy rules until you explain otherwise to them. They can get quite cross about people breaking what they think the rule is, an acquaintance's gnc son would get other children insisting that he must be wrong and he was a girl.

I fancy identifying as a blonde haired 6'3" Danish male architect.

I am in fact a foot shorter, dark haired, UK born, female and zero training in architecture.

Equating dress wearing with being a woman is simultaneously both a regressive sex stereotype and cultural imperialism.

It's an assumption children under a certain age often make, from their observations of gender norms being filtered through a still developing brain - children are acutely perceptive at noticing social cues, but still only capable of very simplistic rationalisation.

I don't think that's true, actually. My toddler can easily tell the difference between male and female, regardless of dress.

Makes no difference to younger people but for older people there was a different promise made to men and women for state pensions.
Hence the WASPI campaign when the commitment was changed for state pensions.
I also don’t know about employer “defined benefit“ pensions, I don’t know how many are different for male/female pensioners.

It would be a different scenario for defined contribution or personal pensions, possibly switching to transman might get a higher monthly annuity amount in retirement? I think annuities are priced vs life expectancy and sex might be one of the questions, the annuity might increase if the male life expectancy were shorter than the female and the transman was eligible for the male formula...

My this is fun. Do any of you manly men want to use your manly men brains to calculate how much money is owed to the older transwomen who were unable to retire at 60 under the nasty unfair GRA 2004 rules, but will under nice new Self ID version?

The old rules were so unfair that these poor transwomen never came out, but they are trans, and have always been. obvs.
In MB v Secretary of State for Work & Pensions, poor MB won a 5 year backdate. They would have GRC’d, but never did because of the pesky “spousal veto”

I'm absolutely sure it doesn't. Dresses for women and not for men is merely a current (or rather, decades outdated) western cultural norm.

I can keep my long hair because I'm a middle aged software developer. Ok, so I'm not balding at the front so I've not quite got the look right but close enough.

I'm going to keep mine long too but it will identify as a man bun.

I am seriously considering self-ID as a man. No-one will believe me as I wear dresses and skirts and make-up and pretty accessories 90% of the time but that's the point, surely? I can say I'm a man so I'm a man, no matter how I look and act.

I'm sure that my sadly turning-more-woke-by-the-day employers will treat me with more respect and allowances for poor performance if I tell them I'm a man and finally stop with my silent protest and add my chosen pronouns to my email signature, and I don't need to provide more evidence than my 'feelings'. I have a unisex name (or unigender?) so I won't even have to change my name.
