And it's awful

No mention of sex, no mention of impact on any stakeholders, all leading questions, and horrible clear intention to filter.

This will affect the wonderful space at Hampstead Ponds so I urge you all to complete it. I will be speaking to the Corporation about its clear bias and lack of adherence to guidelines.

Absolutely MacaroonMama, but I suppose it's all linked to Dr May John's work.

It's the imposition of beliefs which irritates me. If binary facilities, can facilities be binary? aren't good enough, then they should just install a unisex or pan facility, reducing male and female ones equally or just leave the pools as they were.

Procrastinator1 interesting article. I agree with a lot of their thoughts. I am probably non-binary myself! But so much of it is so navel-gazing!!! I do not care that people call me she - I am a woman! So much has to do with bio sex, that is what people mean by ‘she’ - I don’t think they are ascribing characteristics of femininity to me, they just mean ‘her, that one, glasses and a big bum!’

I really think most of us GC feminists on her would say we are non-binary but then don’t give it a second thought because who has time to decide ‘which loo fits my gender best?’ After three kids, I just want a clean safe loo where I can park the buggy outside the stall if needs be and not worry that a man walks past!

It really feels like they have too much bloody time on their hands!

Done. Hopping mad! Also kept mentioning the EA2010, and the conflation of sex/gender. Bloody idiots.

Just add third spaces everywhere! FFS! This would help trans people feel safe and keep women’s spaces safe too.

Thank you for this. I am going to do this as soon as I can get my brain straight.

I am going ot tyr to mention the responsibilties that the Corporation has under Public Sector Equality Duty eg the need to balance needs of protected groups, for any discrimination against women (by removing single sex provision) esp disabled women and women of certain religions to be proportionate ie not more than is necessary to achieve their aim of trans incusion, (why is the mixed pond not sufficient, why must the women's pond be opened up as well), and to foster good relations between groups, (amongst other things).

I want ot try to write a letter too but might not be abel to so will put it in here.

I've had a look at what Dr MegJohn, they are in lots of photos with Lorde, says in one interview. They (singular) talk about having to choose a toilet.

Is this what it's all about?

QuarksandLeptons, "challenge this legally", Yes

I don't think everyone tweeting about this will know about the Hampstead Pools.

"How dare they steam roller hard won rights for the sake of a tiny percentage of men."

It's not- it's for all men. Women having their own spaces is seen as a threat to men. Lots of men either want access to these spaces or to have them shut down. This is an MRA movement, make no mistake.

In the survey - the questions were clear that they want any man to be able to go anywhere any time with no questions asked.

NothingOnTellyAgain · 26/07/2018 14:03

Done. These men won't be happy until all areas where women/ girls get together are crawling with pervy men.

I bet the next survey will helpfully avoid that option, BirthCanal.

Report
BirthCanal · 26/07/2018 13:55

To be honest it was a lifesaver that each question had a comments box as it would literally be unanswerable otherwise.

Do you identify with the gender you were assigned at birth

That might possibly be the question I answered with 'Don't be bloody silly'

Report
QuarksandLeptons · 26/07/2018 13:43

Completed. What a farce. Long comments left for each question- clarifying how misleading the questions were.
This policy would effectively prevent women particularly women from certain faiths from participating in public life.

If this goes through, we'll need to challenge this legally. How dare they steam roller hard won rights for the sake of a tiny percentage of men.

Oh i had such fun with that . I made the point many times that the mens can be made unisex.

Report
BirthCanal · 26/07/2018 13:16

I filled it out with repeated referrals to the fact that biological sex is observed at birth and unchanging, while gender is choice -based. I said I was shocked at the corporations failure to recognise the difference.

I made repeated reference to the danger of young girls being exposed to male genitals. I said men could, would and do identify as female when they have intact male genitalia.

I also said there would be a need for a guard to be present at all times in order to intervene in the inevitable attempted rapes which would occur should the plans go ahead.

I filled it in and said I was shocked at the biased nature of the survey. Also about the conflation of sex and gender.
Bloody question 14 too - Do you identify with the gender you were assigned at birth... No option to say I wasn't assigned a gender at birth.
Steaming pile of crapola.

sanluca there are some questions that are only asked if you represent an organisation. I went through the whole thing to get all the questions - It's all bunkum.

Honestly, if some awful decision comes out of this floored consultation it would be brilliant to have a crowd funder for advice on a Judicial Review.

heresyandwitchcraft · 26/07/2018 12:42

I wrote that if they make this change, they have to be clear to every single service user that they are effectively making all spaces MIXED-SEX in practice, and that this has to be advertised as such. Just like you have to advertise that male/female attendants may be cleaning a toilet. I also said that a single-"gender" strategy is unenforcable in any real way, and will discriminate against ALL people who would like to keep their spaces SINGLE-SEX for privacy, safety and comfort.
Using the language of "gender" is so disingenuous and hides the real impact of these changes.

That was a shit show of a survey. I’m normally a lurker but I’ve been coming out much more in public over this. I think I may have actually lost my shit at the self identification intention question.

I do hope they have deep pockets at the Corp of London for all the damages they are going to have to settle when the soon to be formerly known as women’s changing room is besieged by every peeping tom and pervert within travelling distance. Angry

Wow, that may be the smuggest tweet I've ever seen, and it's not like there isn't plenty of competition!

Done with many comments outlining the difference between sex and gender, as well as why it is important to preserve single sex spaces.

Now I'm just really cross that something so obviously leading is allowed as a 'consultation' document.

UpstartCrow · 26/07/2018 12:15

I mentioned sex, religion and culture as protected characteristics, and the third space solution.
