A blog about the thread that was on here.
Agree with the comment underneath about anal to vaginal penetration being the perfect breeding ground for a urinary tract infection Sad

The point of 'bad' reviews is to let people know what to expect in the same way that we might research a new laptop, restaurant or tattooist

Oh and buying a laptop! Women are like laptops.

The really sad thing about that blog is the extent to which she has internalised the commodification of her body, and accepted the commodification of other women's bodies.

Interesting that she compared the experience of buying especially with the experience of buying steak.

Let me see... Your starter for 10. Who wrote the comments quoted on the Invisible Men Project? Was it (a) a bunch of dungaree-wearing cardboard cutout feminists? Or (b) a bunch of pay-to-rape misogynistic male punters?

This. G'night all.

Yes Lurcio. G'night everyone.

Not the 'empowerment' lie yet again?! If only 'choice' weren't influenced by a media/government/society run by men who desire to keep the sex industry alive...

why do they put numbers on their names? It's so odd.

This is another trope that demonstrates lack of any engagement in or knowledge of any other political issues.

None of them ever do the distance.

Do your worst punters. Oh sorry, sex worker advocates.

Latin name: pimpus pimpus -the lesser spotted pimp.

Yawn - the klaxon is going to lead to another invasion, isn't it? Thank heavens it's my bedtime...

In fact, if we all just went to bed, they'd have no-one to wind up, and with a bit of luck these threads will drop out of active convos, the punters will lose interest, then we can have an interesting conversation once they've all gone.

Are you tag teaming?

Sadly a lot of people miss the point of the invisible men tumblr. It's not about what abolishionists think nor even about women's choices, it's all about what the men think, their choices.

oh another one.

Welcome. You'll find no anti-women attacks here. Just anti-punter ones.

Kitty is not being paid, but the group doing the exhibition are-

"Linda Thompson, of Glasgow Women's Support Project, is the Scottish Government-funded Challenging Demand Development Officer."

Anyway it's too bad it wasn't an exhibition about horrible things antis say to sexworkers (see link)

The blank faces, no names, price tags.

They are there for exactly the reason Sabrina mentions.

Also Lurchio. Nail. Head.

Our minds are made up precisely because the vast majority of us do know what we're talking about, either from working with survivors groups, talking to survivors, advocating for prostituted women. That and we understand that women should not be considered the sex class and that vulnerable women should be protected from men who would prey on them.

But, I agree, it was a bad idea for you to post here.

Report
BriarRainbowshimmer · 10/03/2014 22:51

That's right we don't know anything about prostitution here.
If only we were enlightened like you then we would be 100% supportive of men's right to buy women.

No, just realised this was a bad idea.

No point in discussing this issue with people like you whose minds are made up.

Your ignorance is astounding and I'm amazed you dare have such strong opinions on something you know nothing about.

And as for "I appreciate many women are horrified at the concept of prostitution and that many women do actually enjoy sex..." BINGO!

You do realise that it's precisely because we enjoy sex, we value other human beings, we want in turn for women to be valued as human beings, that we are horrified at the thought that huge numbers of women are forced by economic necessity, grooming by pimps, trafficking and the like, to put up with a series of misogynist arseholes raping them for money? No? Well, you don't come across as the brightest spark ever, do you?

Report
BriarRainbowshimmer · 10/03/2014 22:08

I think it's important to understand that this project is dehumanising to women, using blank faces, no names, a price tag

Almost funny.

"Regardless of your views about women who offer sexual services for money"

Why are you assuming that anyone has any "views" about women who offer sexual "services" for money Kitty?

The IMP isn't about the women - it's about the men. Why don't we talk about them?
