Report of shots fired at a development of Summer Cabins/houses, End of season some most are shut up and deserted.
She answers this call by herself. find a woman and a female body decides to remove woman house owner. Other people shooting. They get ambushed.
She has cell phone another deputy is coming to support her.
They make a run for it on foot through a National Park.
Male Deputy is ambushed and killed.
Drug gang involved.
Cell phones but not Smart Phones.
Quite a lot of shooting for a female cop story.

I have also found a book that I started a search thread for some time ago. That is another Deaver one Roadside Crosses, one of the Kathryn Dance series.

I think that one is a stand-alone novel, but he's written quite a few series. Check his page on Fantastic Fiction - https://www.fantasticfiction.com/d/jeffery-deaver/
and you might find the book or character there (if it's one of his).

Is the Woman Deputy or Detective a regular of his characters?
There is a vague memory of a murder perhaps a body on the beach. Computer gamers at an Arcade who were able to sell 'characters' half way through a game.
Which I thought most odd. Looking up from an Xbox in the corner of the living room.😀

@Sophie1980 I read a lot of his a few years ago and enjoyed them back then, but haven't done so for a while now.

I did read that one, probably not long after it came out, and from memory (not great at the best of times though!) it does seem to fit your description. I'm sure that someone else will come along with another suggestion if that's not the one you're thinking of.
