DS is coming up for 3 and my Mum has said she will get him some books for his birthday. I will order them from Amazon as we live in Spain.
What book have you most enjoyed and would suggest I put on his wish list?

*The Gruffalo
Monkey Puzzle
*Room on the Broom (although this is quite long)
Dear Zoo
The Very Hungry Caterpillar
*The Snail and the Whale
*The Smartest Giant in Town
*The Very Small
Mog the Forgetful Cat
*Mr Men/ Little Miss books

My 9 year olds were still asking for the ones with asterisks up until a couple of years ago so they are really good value if you can keep 'em in good condition!

ds1's favourite at this age was Duck in The Truck by Jez Albrough, and all the other duck books are good too.
Others we particularly liked:
Into the Castle by June Crebbin (but it seems to be out of print now)
George and the Dragon by Christopher Wormell
The Little Red Train books by Benedict Blathwayt

Yeha I know, I just couldn't quite remember if I was correct with the digger one, so moved on to later pages!
What a busy day now it's time for resting...tell me about it.

Oh you are all wonderful!
We've already got Dear Zoo and a few Mogs (and quite a few more besides) but with no bookshop to browse in it's difficult to know what you are missing - now I know!
After 3 children my sister-in-law has a massive collection of books which I don't think she is keen to part with. What do you do with your old books?

Now beginning to doubt my previous post.

Do recall "out fall the rocks...CRASH! Rumbling and tumbling. Superb book. DS adored that from a very young age. reminds me, I might dig that one out for old time's sake!

The 'Thats not my.....' series are fab.
We've got

dragon
train.
Theres loads more.
Very colourful and touchy-feely.

And agree with Dear Zoo, probably ds' favourite currently.

Winnie the Witch is good, a firm favourite here.

Another vote for, The Gruffalo.

Kipper's still 'got it' too

Harry and his bucketful of dinosaurs .. and all the other books in the series are a huge hit with my 2.4 year old at the moment! He loves all the Hairy Maclary books and anything by the Gruffalo author!

Think ktmoomoo's is Dear Zoo.
We also love Eddie's teddy.

The Very Hungry Caterpiller - Eric Carle
Ten Tiny Tadpoles - Debbie Tarbett
Toes are to Tickle - Shen Roddie, Kady MacDoinald Denton
Guess how much I love you - Sam McBratney

My DD 3.5 loves all the above - has had them quite a while so they may be for younger children, but she still loves them...

Will write some more when I look at the books upstairs (DH reads to her in bed and I have to admit I have no idea what books are up there, as we have been given loads from friends and family)...
