Excited for the Olympics? To celebrate the publication of British athlete Jo Pavey's This Mum Runs, here's a chance to win a copy of the new book PLUS a Thule Glide sports stroller - perfect for any mum who runs.

Jo Pavey was 40 when she won the 10,000m at the European Championships. It was her first gold medal and, astonishingly, it came within months of having her second child. Now 42, Jo will be representing Team GB in the Athletics squad for the 2016 Rio Olympics.

Jo has been dubbed ‘Supermum’, but her story is in many ways the same as every mother juggling working life with a family – the sleepless nights, the endless nappy changing and the school-run chaos. The only difference is that Jo is a full-time athlete pushing a buggy on her training runs and clocking up miles on the treadmill while her daughter has her lunchtime nap.

Heartwarming and uplifting, This Mum Runs follows Jo’s roundabout journey to the top and all the lessons she's learned along the way. It is the inspiring yet everyday story of a mum that runs and a runner that mums.

For anyone thinking of starting out running I would highly recommend NHS Couch to 5k. I did it in March of this year after having my third C-section and I now thoroughly enjoy running 2-3 times a week. I wouldn't say I'm fast but it keeps me fit, and it's healthy. Just enjoy it and don't be too hard on yourself.

Find a buddy to drag along with you for a chin wag. It makes it far less painful! I joined a women's only running group for beginners and it built my confidence and I actually looked forward to running each week. Since then, I have run 3 half marathons.

I started reading the comments and realised that like myself many other moms are excited about couch to 5 k :) it's a great way to condition yourself to run without being too much too soon. I also have an additional tip: draw up a bullet journal spread to track your running. It gives you motivation and much needed accountability if you're a bit of a couch potato like I am :)

In order to run comfortably with a stroller, you need to find a model that matches your height, has good suspension for the comfort of your baby, thick wheels with the option to lock the front wheel and a safety strap for your wrist.

If your running with a buggy, make sure it's the correct type and is comfortable for baby whilst your running, the happier they are in the buggy the longer you can run for :)

Just keep going. It helps me to think 'faster, smoother, easier, lighter' as I run, especially up hills!
Try Parkrun - I love running with other people.

Good air cushioned trainers are a must, protecting joints ligaments and muscles. Great shock absorbing footwear and you can go for miles!

Stick with it. You'll improve if you keep getting out there! I got back into running about 3 months ago and struggled to run about half a mile. Last Sunday I ran 8.6 miles and I'm entered into a half marathon next month, I never thought I'd get there! Also try to change routes each time you go out, I find going the same way all the time is so boring! I love running!!

I love to run in the early morning, in the Summer it's lovely hearing the birds waking up and singing and the gorgoeus Summer sky's, the Autumn is lovely because of running through the crisp leaves, winter is lovely and fresh and although cold at first really lovely once I get going and Spring it's lovely seeing all the new things arriving I find this really gives me a boost and Spurs me on that and a comfy pair of trainers and joggers, the run sets me up for the day and gives me the energy I need for the rest f the day, I have about four different routes that I alternate and that always makes it interesting

Join a running club. I've never been a runner but did a beginners course at my local running club at the beginning of last year and I'm hooked. Running with people distracts from the tough bits... I also like to have the next race booked in to give me the 'fear' to keep going.

Slow and steady to start with and with a little patience you will get there.

Get yourself good running shoes and a water bottle.
Set yourself achievable goals and distances .
Just start running - only first step is hard.

Spend time ensuring you have the correct footwear. I have probelms with my feet and the correct running shoes are essential

I used to hate running! I remember running the 1000m in PE, walking most of the way and throwing up at the end. In my mid 20s I discovered couch to 5k app and quite honestly it changed my life. I lost 5 stone but gained so much confidence and found a hobby that I still love 10 years later.

Running is my passion now, I compete half marathons and obstacle course races, my family think I'm bonkers ha. But all I would say is if you think you can't, you absolutely can!

It's okay to alternate walk and run :) Luckily it's flat where I live but I can imagine it must be very difficult if you live in a hilly area!!!

I thought I was too tired, too busy to run but its worth every second even if the only window you have is for a 5 min loop around the block. Running, a light jog or a 10 second sprint can break you out of the clutches of a busy stressful day and bring a spark back to your mood. It's nourishment for the mind and I couldn't recommend it more.

My top tip is to know your route options, like most things for mum's some sort of routine is the key, you might not get to predict the time of your run but knowing your routes and how long they take means you can really make the most of your time and focus on enjoying the run not whether or not you're lost. And change it up to suit your mood some days are fast ones, other days slow and some days are just for resting up, none of that really matters it's just allowing some time for you that does the magic.

Well, my first and most important tip would be to get a good pair of running shoes and if you're a woman, a good fitting sports bra!
Having said that, you don't want to have all the gear and no idea! :-o
Always keep hydrated, take enough water with you for the length of time you'll be out running!
Running is something you need to start doing in small amounts and build your way up...you can't expect to just run 10 miles on your first run it's simply not going to happen. So, it's a good idea to use your first run as a trial run to see how far you can go without having to break, once you need to stop don't stop completely - just walk for a few minutes to regain your breathe and some energy then go again! Do this for half an hour.
Each time you do this you're building stamina so after a few weeks you'll be ready to up your times and run for longer...eventually leaving out the walking breaks and just running continuously.
Another tip is to give yourself goals, maybe just small goals in the beginning such as time goals, distance goals etc, but then once you're achieving those a bigger goal like training for a "race for life" or even a "half marathon"!!

Try to find a running partner. It's great to run with somebody, and of course you can talk and laugh with the person you are running with, and before you know the run has finished!
