Just finished Indelible Ink by Fiona McGregor.
Set in Sydney, it's about a recently divorced middle aged woman who discovers tattoos and another side to her previously affluent lifestyle.
Very moving.

Xmas Grin

OP, you've made me laugh there!

glad the book is better (frankly, it couldn't be much worse)

I absolutely hated it. From clumsy unengaging start to long-overdue finish.

Dame Margot..yes, I agree Blush
It's the only other Aussie novel I could think of, with a dysfunctional family who are disillusioned living in Sydney.

Anyway, well worth a read. Very sad at the end.

I really loved The Slap. I think there were some misogynist characters but I didn't think the writer himself was.

I really liked the premise of the slap before I read it but agree that it was misogynistic with really predictable character outcomes.

I never read The Slap but the series was compelling viewing, not a single character you could really empathise with, but you could gradually understand them as their stories unfolded.

The Slap was one of the most sad, misogynist books I have ever read. All the men were bastards, all the women were surrendered idiots.

I quite liked The Slap.
This is nothing like it..only similarity is it's set in Oz ( tenuous link)

Yes DameMatgot, the Slap was so unsympathetically written, everyone in it was a bastard really! I felt a bit depressed by it, like watching Eastenders.

I was less than enamoured with The Slap tbh. It was the 'only if I get desperate' holiday read and indeed it was.

The Slap was written by a man and according to Mr Google there's 8 part adaption for TV.....

Is it better than The Slap? (can't be worse Wink) Similar? Is it by the same author, I can't remember?
