To all the people devastated about the Tom Cruise, Jack Reacher film.

I have to say I was totally DEVASTATED years ago when he was cast as Lestat in Interview with the Vampire...he was too short, didnt look how I imagined, why DID they have to cast a star I just WASNT into as a character I LOVED, I just felt it was WRONG.

When saw the film I thought he was superb in the role to the extent that I felt it dragged when he was not on screen. Stuart Townsend in Queen of the Damned was far more what I had envisaged but nowhere near as hypnotic for me.

I am STILL not a fan but I would give him the benefit of the doubt on this.

Anyone unsure should read Empire magazine's article on the forthcoming film. Sounds good and the author is (apparently) happy with the casting. However, I haven't read the books so......

Basically the perfect guy I can think of is an ex who was really tall / massive / quite ugly but oddly sexy :o Maybe I should send a photo of him to Lee Childs... :o

I thought the story was that TC bought the film rights so he could star in it. (No one else in their right minds would cast him for obvious reasons). Watching that clip makes me wonder if they had to employ undersized extras for him to beat the shit out of. He still looks like a little boy playing with men. I'm not going to see the film on the principle that I love JR and don't like TC anyway let alone TC being the complete opposite of Lee Child's description of JR (and my own fantasy).

I did have a bit of a chuckle looking at that scene, remembering that some workmates who had seen Tom in the flesh described him as "tiny", I was thinking "all those extras he is fighting must be really short"

I know what you mean Dotty I am a bit preoccupied by a hideously scarred vampire at the moment so, however illogical, I get where you are coming from with your obsession with a fictional character.

I was having a chuckle thinking about the Dennis Waterman Little Britain scenes where they have massive chairs to make "Dennis" look small, do you think they do the opposite with Tom and downscale everything to make him look bigger?

My Reacher looks like a less ugly Daniel Craig (although obviously busy with bond) or Cluve Owen, that ugly but entirely shaggable in the right light kinda sexiness.

In One shot the book, that i have just finshed reading there is a plotline where a girl is killed and it couldnt have been anyone else except Reacher because of the height of the attack ( except Reacher is right handed and the killer is left handed)

Tom Cruise isnt Jack Reacher, just couldnt be, Never never never.
