Right - off on hols in 8 weeks. Am currently the size of a manatee. I'd ideally like to shift 1.5 - 2 stone. Ambitious, yes, but needs must. Anyone have any tips for fast weight loss to kick start things or anyone fancy joining in. I think I'm going to cut carbs initially and try and do a bit of exercise. Bread, pasta and cheese are my downfall and all the wine!

This is possibly premature but I have just bought 4 too small vest tops online from Uniqlo I am hoping they'll fit in a month. (They'll probably fit as they're stretchy but I want them to look like they fit rather than straining to contain my mumtum).

Ooh that sounds interesting. I have never tried smoothies because I want my diet to look as 'normal' as possible in front of dds. Like you arty I have parents who have always been critical of my weight and so I want dds to not have a constantly dieting, self critical mum. Flowers arty as I know how awful it is when your parents criticise you.

parsnips I'm glad you sound more motivated.

I have had a good few days. Yesterday I made a curry and had about 1/3 naan bread, a poppodom and tiny portion of rice. My fitness pal still told me off for eating too much saturated fat but I tend to ignore everything other than calories.

I am currently starving. Just about to do lunch for everyone, which will probably be sandwiches and fruit and veg sticks. Normally I'd have a couple of pieces of bread and butter in the kitchen while preparing lunch so I need to have self control but it's so hard.

Ok great. Good to know it can work. I'll have a play around with some combinations later

I am 12 stone 7 today.I have done exactly what you are planning Parsnips!! Yesterday I had a spinach smoothie and a beetroot smoothie then mac and cheese and salad.

Today, spinach smoothie then beetroot smoothie then baked salmon and salad. That is only about 700 cals, so it is low, but I hope perfectly possible.

Right thanks for the motivational pep talk! I bought this today to make smoothies and I'm going to try having two a day with a healthy dinner for the next few weeks and see if that makes a difference!

Parsnips hope you are okay. Yes 6 weeks is nearly a stone. You can do it. Thanks

Thanks also to you Stealth. I appreciate your thoughts. I am still not hungry but have had a beetroot/ginger/banana juice froma local cafe. I was wondering about trying to only have liquids all day today..... my system feels sluggish (lots of meat last night) and I kind of feel like I want to give my body a break from digesting for a bit.

My parents come and stay in 3 weeks time, and I am scared. They have always been hyper critical of my weight, and I have never been so large as I am now. I am a stone heavier than the day before I gave birth. So I have episodes where I feel really depressed and then I binge eat.

Arty I commented on another thread yesterday that my body doesn't know when it's full, if I'm having a meal I eat everything in front of me.

Likewise I used to eat three times a day because I just had to or I felt if I skipped a meal I'd be starving later. I am much better now at recognising hunger and sometimes I skip meals because I'm just not hungry. On Sunday I had big lunch I skipped dinner and felt fine with just my usual toast for breakfast so I guess I didn't need the food after all. Most people would probably say it's dis functional to skip meals but I see it as part of the process of relearning what my body wants / needs.

Sorry to hear things aren't going well parsnips. I know it's hard but in 6 weeks you could achieve lots. 2lbs a week is nearly a stone. Even if you 'only' lost 1/2 stone I'm sure you would look / feel different. My goal is to lose 1 stone before 15 July. I know I'm unlikely to make it but I would like to do the zip up on last year's summer trousers before I go on holiday as i don't want to buy a new larger wardrobe.

How are you trying to lose the weight? Do you have a meal plan? I am intending to have chicken salad today and a jacket potato with tuna for dinner. It is going to be hard for me as I woke up with a headache and generally feel a bit crap today.

Oh you're all doing so well.

Meanwhile, over here in obese city... I just can't motivate myself and getting nowhere.

Holiday is in just under 6 weeks and not really sure what I can actually achieve in that time Sad

I was out last night at a work farewell and the food and portions were enormous. It was a strange set up - like tapas, with the plates pre-ordered but they were much larger than tapas. So I am still very full and planning to not eat today until I get hungry. That will be a bit of a challenge as I am not even sure I know what 'hungry' is, my hunger button is faulty!

Drinking coffee now and a large glass of water with lemon.

I also need to measure myself to see how thinner I'm getting as there's often a time lag between weight loss and inches lost but I know that's going to depress me too! i wonder when I'll see a difference, maybe another 4lbs? I think half a stone is when you start to notice you're a bit thinner. Fingers crossed I can fit into last year's shorts before my holiday.

Stealth that is fantastic!!!!! Good for you!!!!

I am scared of the scales also.

Report
StealthNinjaMum · 07/06/2017 07:29

I have good news. I popped on the scales and I have lost 2 1/2 lbs in about 9 or 10 days. I am delighted as after spending 5 days last week unable to track calories it shows I must've just naturally made some good decisions.

I would still like to have lost 14lbs by the time I go away and it'll be hard but I do feel motivated. Today's meals will involve chicken - probably salad - and a tuna wrap for lunch.

That sounds lovely arty, I need to make this me to eat proper meals. I am having a good day so far, but a bit too busy to eat well. I am thinking of weighing myself Monday morning as an incentive to be good at weekends but I am really scared of the scales. I tried last week but would be surprised if I had actually lost any weight.

Breakfast was toast with marmite.
Lunch has just been fruit - apple, grapes and a banana. I have only eaten 300 calories and no protein so I know I'm going to be starving later.

Dinner is going to be chicken breast and veg as I haven't had time to make soup.

Dc have a ready meal tonight so I will be trying not to eat their toad in the hole.

Morning,

I lost this thread so thanks stealth for posting on it again!

I am weighing myself Friday. I am 6 days boozefree, but ate alot of takeaway at the weekend.

Today:

poached eggs on toast with spinach

baked salmon and cous cous

roast chicken and salad.

I am eating lunch now, and the total cals are about 770.

How is everyone doing?

Hi sexy. Well done. I am trying to do 1200 calories a day on my fitness pal to lose 2lbs a week but actually I'm not sure I'll be able to. As I'm 'only' a stone overweight the weightloss will take longer.

As last week was half term we had a break with the girls to a seaside resort. I found it impossible to eat healthily or track my calories on mfp as we ate out a lot. I managed to not have snacks like ice cream but there were days where I had a steak salad but it was covered in dressing or a wrap and it came with a ton of chips. I find it hard to leave food on the plate so even though I know I shouldn't eat the chips I still did and dcs chips as well

Anyway I have been good since we got back. Last night I made a Thai style vegetable soup and today I am going to make a chicken soup.

Thanks for the link arty that's really helpful! I'm the same never counted before but it's really motivating to see it working! 3lb down this week alewdty and also not feeling deprived!

Do you think it's ok to be really good all week then have some wine at the weekend??? Hmm

Morning all. Hope everyone is well.

I am okay- I found this great calorie counting site

www.nutracheck.co.uk/CaloriesIn/

I have never counted calories before, but it seems to be working well at the moment. I am aiming for about 1200 cals per day or less and actually am not feeling deprived as I am focusing on lean protein and loads of salads. Last night I had pork and pepper kebabs with spinach and cherry tomato salad.

Knocking the booze on the head has helped immensely. I am drinking loads of water and tea. Have not yet looked at the scales, but am feeling better!

How is everyone doing?

Have downloaded my fitness pal and swimming app & it's quite a revelation! - 2lb down this week so far. Am weighing every day. I have never counted calories before and tend to avoid my scales- it's really not that bad and has def been helping me be more aware of what's going in Vs energy expended Grin

Hopefully

It's going really well, thanks.

I am finding it easy as I don't have to count calories or points or anything. I also don't have to buy any special foods in. I can eat anything!

Bank holiday Monday I skipped breakfast and took my multivitamin and just ate 8 bites for lunch and then 8 bites for dinner. We went out for lunch so there was no scanning the menu wondering what I can and can't eat.. And feeling deprived. I just ordered a small portion and then left the rest on my plate. Yesterday was a bit harder as I went swimming with my son and swimming generally makes me hungry. I drank plenty of water and reminded myself how great I am going to feel once I have got the weight off and can get into my dress.

Off to the seaside today so I will be able to order fish and chips with everyone else but just in a smaller amount!

The book is super motivating so I make sure I re read parts of the book to keep me motivated.

I feel lighter but I am not weighing until the end of the week.

Bambisins

I've done the diet before and lost a stone and kept it off. I took a break and I'm now ready to shift more weight as I'm super motivated.

When I did it before, I did feel awful but I wasn't taking the multi vitamin. Once I started taking the multivitamin I felt much better.

Andie, I think that will almost certainly work for you to lose weight but would imagine you'll feel TERRIBLE and as soon as you start to eat 'normally' again you'll just pile it all back on. It really doesn't sound like a good diet plan!
