Hi, I just wondered if it really was so bad to drink squash instead of water to aid weight loss?

I use an old cafetière , throw in slices of lemon, lime, ginger mint singly or in combination. It tastes great and you do get used to it. After a month or so, when you go back to the low calorie squash, you can ally taste the 'chemicals'. Enjoy.

Get a fruit infusion bottle. I hate plain water and despise the taste of artificial sweeteners so I do fruit infusion. A few strawberries or a chopped up lime in the water bottle in the fridge overnight makes a huge difference. There's often cheap bottles on Groupon or Wowcher.

You could also add some mint to the iced water. Or a squeeze of lemon or lime or some chopped berries such as strawberry.

Thanks all. I need to increase my fluid intake but prefer squash. I just wondered if it was drastically different to drinking water. I might just add ice to the water; I find it nicer like that.

The fewer calories from your liquids the better, as they're nip usually appreciated (IYSWIM)

I don't liketo consume too much artificial sweetener, but it's not unsafe to do so.

Do you actually need to be drinking large amounts of squash at all? Excessive thirst might be worth mentioning to your doctor.

"Squashes, cordials and fizzy drinks are usually packed with calories and sugars, but little else. A can of cola, for example, contains around 140 calories, 7 teaspoons of sugar but no nutrients. Swapping a daily can for a glass of water will save 51,100 calories in a year – or enough to lose 14lb!"

Even the stuff with no added sugar has sugar, because there is naturally sugar in fruit.
