Losing weight to conceive

Hello everyone,

I was just wondering if there is anyone else here who's losing weight (or trying!) for the main purpose to conceive? I was diagnosed with Polycystic Ovaries a few weeks ago, and at age 30 and 22 stone, I know I need to lose weight to ever have a chance of being a mother.

I started a low carb, low saturated fat and low calorie healthy eating plan last Friday and this week have lost 10lb. Hooray! That's 10lb closer to motherhood!

If anyone else wants to come and join me on this journey, please pop by and say hello!

Good luck on your quest thepolymysticovary and greenolive

I just thought I'd share this as I'm +5 years down the road from you.

DH and I tried for a year. No joy. AF all over the shop. Never got a positive PCOS diagnosis but had lots of symptoms. Referral to gynae was when we'd been trying for a year. She was lovely but essentially sent us away telling me to lose weight. She recommended a low GI diet. I was over 17 stone.

DH and I did it together with lots of exercise. I recommend a wii fit as it meant I could do it in privacy. Both got much healthier very quickly. I lost 4 stone in less than 6 months! AF was still inconsistent. Sex lost all spontaneity which was difficult as we'd always had lots of fun Blush before.

I was loving being this thin (for me). I could walk into any shop and buy what I liked. It was lovely.

Then after being very ill with a suspected tummy bug which had me signed off work, I did a pregnancy test. It was positive. I was just shy of having lost 5 stone.

Never been so happy.

It can happen. And it's a great motivation to lose weight. I

DS starts school after the summer. DD was born 19 months after DS! That was a bit of a shock but beggars can't be choosers.
