Can someone give me any reason why I lost no weight. Before my diet I ate far too much, large portions and snacked on crap throughtout the day, first week I cut out all the crap and picking and lost 2 lbs, then the 2nd week I thought right lets get into this, I started having a bowl of museli for breakfast, a small lunch and a sensible dinner, every day I did some exercise at least a 2 hour walk/jog, also making sure i drunk at least 1 litre of water a day. (my drinking beforehand consisted of 3 cups of coffee and thats about it)

Got of the scales this morning hoping for at least 3-4 lb loss and infact put 1/2 a lb on. I am really puzzled and feel my resolve about crack. I have been so good on this diet, no cheated once, and walked for miles and miles, where before diet I used the car for everything.
Its not my time of the month or anything.

I feel really :( :( :(

Feel a little bit better for it, but I do feel a little bit bloated, might lay off the museli in future.

do you feel better for it ? If so, forget about the weight issue - just go for how you feel - and over a few weeks you will probably find your clothes are feeling looser.

Throw the scales in a dark corner, eat sensibly, exercise moderatley.

no I am not counting cals, i just figured museli is good for you, its home made, all the bits bought from asda and thrown in together.

My lunch in normally around 300 cals (its the only meal I do actually count as I can) the evening meal is a smaller version of what I would normally eat, not chips, just things like lasagna and salad, roast, lots of salad with dinners instead of chips.

april74, I am a diet expert who is extremely overweight so don't listen to me Grin

I just wondered if you are counting calories, syns, points or something?

Muesli can be extremely calorific and when losing weight probably needs to be weighed & when you write "small lunch and sensible dinner" what do you actually mean? Could it be that you're calorific intake is larger than you imagine?

Good luck with the diet. 2 weeks is early days. Don't lose heart :)

definately no bloating.

I took measurements and still the same.

I know a week is a short time, but at the beginning I have always lost more weight and its slowed down after a month or so.

Could it be that I am suddenly drinking lots more water and not used to it?

also I diet around this time every year, i lose 1 stone quite easily in about 6 weeks and then slowly put it on during the year, I never usually have problems losing weight, just when I started all this extra walking/jogging etc etc

oh is it only a week!

well that's a short time in diet-land. Could you have some pre-menstrual bloating?

It sounds like you're doing a really good job. I can think of two reasons why you might not have lost any weight:

First of all, you may have put on some muscle, which weighs more than fat. Losing fat and gaining muscle will make you healthier, and slimmer-looking (even if you weigh the same amount). Are your clothes a bit looser?

Second of all, you may be better hydrated, so carrying around more water, which is also not a bad thing.

At any rate, a week is a very short time, too short to judge a diet, I think. Give it a few more weeks, use your tape measure, as well as your scales, and see what happens.

how many weeks have you been sensibly eating in total?

Is it possible you have a low functioning thryoid as difficulty in losing weight can be one of the symptoms (as well as chronic fatigue, pins and needles, hair loss)

Or is someone sneak-feeding you arctic rolls and pies when you're asleep?Wink
