I am fat and can't stop eating

I am fat. I put on heaps of weight (7st) while I was pg and lost it all by the time my twins were 1. They are now nearly 2 and I have put on 2 stone in the past year and it is still going on at the rate of about 2 lb a week.

I have recently started a hugely stressful job. We are also moving house and have builders in the new house. Since April (when I started the job) I've put on 1 1/2 st of the 2 st total. I have also recently started a new drug to control my arthritis. Drug is working brilliantly, one of the side effects is increased appetite. I have also been told I am 'insulin resistant' - this is sometimes the precursor to diabetes.

I now weigh 15 1/2 st and am miserable and so disappointed with myself. I had previously got down to 11 st something with Slimming World and had told myself I would never be fat again Sad. I can't go to SW at the moment as with the move, the twins and the job my life doesn't have any space in it at all. I walk with the boys in the buggy/out of the buggy at the weekend but apart from that get n exercise although I am on my feet all day.

I have tried and tried to control my eating. I feel hungry almost all the time. I now it can't be real hunger, but I cannot control the urge to eat. I crave carbs mostly.

Have you wise ladies got any ideas to help me out. I need to stop the weight going on and lose 3 stone.

Many thanks for reading.

Thanks shine

Yes, that's what I need to do - cutting out bread I know would help me a lot.

This morning the scales tell me I have lost 4 lb Confused

WHich is great, but not sure I am convinced by them!

no my scales seem to vary based on time of day etc, and I remember when i was newlt pg (and 3st lighter Shock) that the scales at the doctor's were very different to ours so I am not really interested in weighing myself. I will know if I am losing weight!

Shiney, that is soooo impressive, your results are amazing. I have the summer holidays off so I am thinking of a diy bootcamp type of thing so I can slink back into the staff room come September Grin. I have been low/no carbing, low GI, obviously I am doing something wrong Grin.

Ahhh... I like this thread! I want the mental click that makes me crack on Envy.

Stealth & South- I remember you both from the April 2007 thread.

I came here as I'm also struggling with my weight- every day I look in the mirror and go pffff, shit, how fat have I got, or catch sight of myself in a reflection and think 'this really has to stop'. And then I just keep eating. Sad. Wake up next morning full of remorse- and repeat, for 4 years!

I'm 5ft, and 12st, its rubbish. Need to get down to about 9 (cant even think about less than that).

I eat WAY too many carbs, in evening usually, and crisps, and drink far too much as well. I do no exercise (apart from lots of walking/housework!).

Shiney- your post was inspiring. I am going to have serious think today about what I can do during August for free. Yes, DIY bootcamp, Potnoodle! Food focus looks good, and running (shudder).

Was actually considering lighter life, and I may hold this in reserve for Sept when I get paid as I'm getting pretty desperate.

Hi GlitterKitty.....diy bootcamp idea is hour of dvd, hour of walking, hour of toning spread over the day...I will have the time over the holidays, just lack motivation Blush.

How's everyone doing?

Hi noodle Grin 3hrs of excercise a day! Shock bloody hell.

I could do a half hour run and a shred. Or cycle to pool and swim, most days, I think.

I just joined food focus and am obese- BMI is 32.1. Losing 2lbs a week I'm looking at mid December to have it off by. Well, I'm going to try this month and if its not gone well onto lighter life in Sept to give me a kick start!

Running really does help. I cannot believe I am recommending it as I used to be a commited non-runner. But just start small. I ran at 8.4km (treadmill) for as long as I could & just kept trying to go for longer. After a week or so I upped it to 8.6km & so on.
I can now do intervals at 10.05km - 11.5km. or run at 9.5km for 30 minutes.
Trust me you do not know what you are capable of til you try.
Plus my thighs have never been so slim.
Dietwise - look at where sugar is in your food..& not just the obvious sugar.. I bought a good book by a woman called Jackie Warner called "this is why you are fat".

Good luck x

PS also try Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred DVD - amazing.

yep,3 hours! It sounds loads doesn't it, but spread over a 12 hour day I'm hoping it is doable Grin. Need to get fit and toned, don't have masses to lose weight wise, just the inches.

I'm on MFP if you want to add me, same name on there, not on FF though.

Keep posting, loads of support out there Smile.

Whats MFP?

Running. Ok. Have had rotten chest infection, but do want to get started. So will give it a go later.

Sounds yuck, but with kids you can't rule out worms as a reason for feeling hungry all the time. Worms love sugar too!

Aside from the over the counter medicine, apparently you can help get rid of them/keep them away with carrots, pumpkin seeds and garlic - loads on-line about natural remedies.

I speak from bitter experience!
