Thunder and lightning and squalls last night!

Bit of an eventful night, we got woken at 01.20 by a terrible racket. Rain was pounding the window and DH had to shut it as there was a flood developing in the bedroom!

As he got up to do so there was a flash of lightning and an almighty crash of thunder, then the rain got even heavier! The wind rattled the windows, and howled down the chimney.

Tee water was just running through our garage, and the racket the rain was making on the fabricated garage roof was incredible.

A couple more flashes of lighning and rumbles of thunder, and then there was sudden quiet as the rain stopped. It was very strange!

OYBBK, was this a squall line?

We had it in Preston, don't know whether it was rain or hail but it was very noisy so could've been hail. dh was really impressed with the lightning!

It was very strange! I'm sure there was no mention of storms last night on the news.

Our cats were stressed and jumpy the rest of the night.

Exit, hope your horse was not to distressed.

Riven I love storms too, we had some belters last year.

Kimbles, yopu did not imagine it!It was very odd.

I'm Tameside.

We had it (north east manchester) but it wasn't rain, it was hailstones, as there were still loads of them in my plant pots this morning. And my horse was out in it! I was very worried that she might have been struck by lightning.
