Weather warnings part 3 - February storms.

Really hoped we wouldnt need another thread so soon.

Tomorrow we have one dangerous storm with winds potentially 90mph off welsh coasts, 80mph inland and hitting Ireland very hard too.

met office warnings for heavy rain (exactly where we dont need it but also hitting western scotland), snow, perhaps even down to lower ground at times over night even pretty far south and storm force winds. Also widespread gales across England.

Then friday night into Saturday we have another potentially damaging low. The models have really struggled with this one and it needs a careful eye keeping on it.

Because the winds look so bad tomorrow for some (enough in the amber areas for me to suggest that you consider whether your journey is essential), I'll be logging on around 7:15am to update. My biggest concern is western Wales in the afternoon. However the track may change as the storm develops so the amber warning area may shift. It is possible that the met office may issue some red warnings close to the morning.

Looking further on, although storms may track to their more usual position (north of scotland) as the month goes on, unfortunately the rain looks set to continue, with little in the way of respite.

-0.4 , clear sky and frosty this morning. Playing fields still squelchy and very muddy where the 'lake' was. My dog walks are still restricted to the paved tracks.

we had frost last night, fog, and then a sunny start before it chucked it down with rain for the afternoon. the puddle* was really full so it must have been very heavy.

*the puddle is in the garages /carpark bitat the back of the flats and only fills up when rain is heavy. otherwise it darins through the cracks in the concrete. it gets to be about 3 foot wide by 18 inches but only a couplle of inches deep.

It did become sunny pm, but not felt warm enough to fling open all the windows yet. 3.7 again atm.

The mist lifted and the sun hazed through, but didn't last for long. No rain but damp cold and hands got cold in my usual gloves. Saw another camelia beginnning to bloom - my 4 not yet.

Bright start to my working day. It was getting light and was clear and bright at 6 when I was walking to work. It was chilly but not freezing. Just fresh enough to make sure I was awake!

Today is the meteorological start of Spring ~ let's hope that's the end of that awful winter (perhaps we need a 'Start of Spring' type thread now)
'Tis a bright, frosty morning here (Leicester) Down to -2.3C overnight ~ think it's only our 3rd or 4th frost of the winter.

Freezing this morning in the style of winter wonderland whiteness and minus 1. Came out of work at lunchtime to the sweet smell of sun warmed ploughed earth (rural area).

Think I will get the winter tyres removed this coming week.

No snow overnight after all but it was stormy with rain lashing at the windows in the early hours. It's still raining hard and is quite sleety. (Glos /Hereford borders).

There was a heavy rain shower on the school run this morning, which included a few chubby snow flakes but it only lasted a few seconds. Nothing exciting and a chilly 3.7C atm.

Sun out here and birds are singing but starting to cloud over, just about to leave for dd's hospital appointment so hopefully it will stay dry for the drive there.
