Weather warnings for 26-28th December....

The metoffice are a bit worried about this weather front that's coming in from the west. Looking at the TV forecasts yesterday, the impression I got was that either the band of rain they're forecasting will start off as heavy snow followed by rain or that it will be rain straight away, which will fall on to frozen ground with the result being icy roads.

Enjoy your break Hulababy!

I am pleased to report DSIL arrived safe and well in Manchester, so it was nice to see them. Smile

Yeah :) We got here just 5 minutes delayed and we are now enjoying the warm sun of Malta in December. Just having a sneaky internet time whilst the lads have gone out to grab take out for tonight's meal.

Was somewhat concerned on waking yesterday to see the old white stuff coming from the sky again. Snow was not the desired weather and was very releived when our friend told us that it was rain in Manchester and no sign of snow. So got to the airport fine, no real delays and here we are :)

Looks like instead of snow we are going to continue with very cold rain, not quite sleet but freezing anyway!

Snow's almost all gone here now as well Xmas Sad It'll be nice though if it's a bit warmer on New Years Eve ~ I don't fancy standing outside to watch some fireworks at midnight, while freezing my bits off at the same time!

OYSSK,I can't believe how hard it is without one.Luckily dh and I managed to rig up a kind of Heath Robinson type thing and it is currently filling via a hose pipe attached to a garden hose and the outside tap.I'm hoping that the pump and drain have defrosted so that I don't have to do it manually though-I can't seem to do it without getting water everywhere.Ah well, more snow forecast tonight.Grin

updated warnings looks like a rain event for many/most in the south tonight. Cold rain - temps just above zero, so could just about lead to some surprises.

Further north? A mix - maybe some proper snow in SE Scotland for a bit tomorrow (sorry Habbibu, stuggling to have any accuracy here!) and maybe just about Yorkshire and the NE too.

Funny how these things go, a couple of degrees here or there makes a huge huge difference to a forecast. In the summer we wouldn't even notice if a forecast were 2C out.

Warmer here in York but there is snow falling now. Big clumps butvi don't think doing much really
