breakfast for BLWers ?

Hi i am sort of doing BLW with dd because she basically refuses anything else !. Today she had roasted root veg at lunchtime and pasta in her hands at tea time but breakfast is a flash point. We allhave cereal and DS has always had weetabix even as a titch. I know toast is the obvious choice but we have quite a lot of bread at other times and really like DS to have cereal for the calcium and iron. I do give fruit as we all have that too. I just wondered what other BLW mums do. This morning she threw abowl of weetabix at the wall ! she will NOT be spoon fed at all .

naughtymummy, we have lots of toast, often with Philly (lemon curd and marmite also big favourite - does Marmite have iron in it?) Bagels are v good as well, eggy bread and omelettes are also well received (if you are doing eggs yet).

And of course the ubiquitous banana

Oh that recipe looks fab Franny. It just so happens that I bought some of those swanky flexible muffin tins this weekend, so now I know what I'll be trying them out with.

I also bought some pizza trays, so that I don't have to make my homemade pizza in quiche dishes any more. Like the thought of pizza being nutritionally equivalent to weetabix.

If I have wholemeal plain flour, I can make it the equivalent of s-r by adding baking powder can't I? Anyone know how much?

I don't know what's wrong with me tonight. I looked on "Threads I'm On", saw CantSlimWontSlim's post, which ended with "I bought some of those swanky flexible muf" and got the giggles again!

The muffins come out kind of chewy and lumpy, not smooth and erm foamy, like a shop bought sweet muffin would be

they are yummy though

my DS loves home made salmon dip spread on toast.

The modified for babies version is

can of pink salmon
tub of full fat philadelphia cheese
150ml natural yogurt
100g unsalted butter (this helps it set and be spreadable)

You can leave out the butter and mayo if you like. Real recipe calls for 1TS white vinegar and 100ml mayo, and some dill

chuck it all in the food processor. keep it in the fridge for..oh...about 3 days? MMmmmmmm
