Hi

I tried my six month old on baby porridge this morning and she loved it! However I have just used that sugar smart app on my phone and scanned it and it contains over 12 cubes of sugar in the packet...that's too much right?? does anyone know an alternative?

My lot always found normal porridge a bit of a funny texture at first so went with ready Brek or weetabix - (made mushy) with warm milk, now at 12 months my ds likes to have his own breakfast and have a good sample of everyone elses whatever they're eating!!

Try normal porridge. You could add formula or breastmilk to make it more nutritious.

You could even blend it to make it smoother if you're worried about the consistency.

Adding cinnamon is a great option to make it tasty without adding sugar.

That's awful that it has so much sugar in it. Just why? Why can't they sell it without sugar ...

But yes ordinary porridge is fine for babies. In fact nearly all normal food is fine for babies 6 months and older. Avoid rice milk and honey and don't add salt.

You can use cows milk from 6 months in food. So just continue with formula to drink, make normal Porridge up for you and baby at Same time.

Just use normal porridge oats made up with cows milk. It's only for a drink that cows milk isn't advised before one. You can cook with cows milk.

Just use normal porridge. Check out Annabelle Karmel's site for some recipes that you can freeze in batches.

Oh and that's just the plain aptamil porridge, not the fruity porridges that they do!

Regular ReadyBrek or normal porridge are fine for babies

Could you not just use normal porridge? I'm weaning my daughter in 2 weeks and going to do BLW and give her the same as I eat.
