Easting as a family

My DD is nearly 1 and a good eater. My OH is self employed and often away for the day from before breakfast time until after DD bedtime. I work 3 days a week when DD is with CM.

So the days I'm with her I'm struggling to give her 'grown up' food - i.e. eating what we eat. I end up feeding her something healthy that I know she'll eat and then grabbing something myself of eating with OH when he gets home.

Rarely does she eat together with us. I'm worried that this is a problem. Do you eat with your baby? How do you feed her and yourself at the same time? FTM, if you hadn't already guessed!

Thanks! This week has been better. Invited MIL over for roast on Monday eve and we all ate together. Have been doing my best to eat with her rather than feed her.....am doing better!! Thanks for the help :)

We have 4 amazing non fussy eaters. I always ate with them and gave them what ever we were eating as a family. Always let them eat as little or as much as they liked. We don't do 'kiddie food' or processed stuff and they've never developed a taste for it. Although they do enjoy party food and eating kiddie food at friends houses.

Our snack sounds weird but they always want to share so it needs to be something dinner ish

We eat with ours Sunday to Thursday, if one of us is alone with both kids (about once a week) we just snack on our dinner while helping them and eat our full portion later, with or without our OH depending if/when they are due back.

Friday and Saturday normally we have a beer and snack at the table with them (raw veg and meat normally) while they eat dinner.
Ours are 9 months and 2.2yrs.

I do pretty much what Culture does too but when mine were tiny I'd give them something they really liked on a Saurday then have a takeaway, steak or curry when they were in bed.

You can give the spicy food, just stir in natural yoghurt, cream or creme fraiche.

Thanks Culture. Sounds like a sensible way forward. Smile

I do meals for me and DS, and save a portion for DP when he gets home. I make it suitable for DS, so I have a smaller portion and my DP usually has a larger portion. If I'm occasionally doing something quick for DS, then I'll sit with him with a cup of tea and a piece of fruit to keep him company.

I decided that way round so that my DS could at least eat meals with one of us rather than always on his own. We all sit and eat together at the weekends too.

That should say 'or eating with OH when he gets home...." :)
