Patent with asthma/hayfever: what did you do?

My hv has retired and not yet been replaced. Sad So clinic is just a weigh in, no advice.

The advice says speak to a HV about introducing foods which more often cause allergy (nuts, eggs etc) if you or your partner has asthma, hayfever etc. DH has asthma and I have hayfever.

Would anyone be able to tell me what the HV would tell me, if she was there?
DD is a week off 6 months so only going to be starting with low risk veg next week. Grin

Ta.

I have asthma and eczema. We weaned DS at 6 months and generally, I didn't worry about introducing one food at a time as I'd read that the risk of allergies is much lower after 6 months anyway. And the chances of low allergen foods eg most vegetables, causing an allergy is going to be really really low.

I did go more slowly with common allergenic foods like gluten, eggs, dairy etc. Ie only gave one at a time and waited a few days before giving another. I have an intolerance to cows milk products - I'm fine with some but drinking a whole glass of cows milk would bring me out in a rash - so I was particularly vigilant with dairy.

In fact, the only food he reacted to was peanuts and it was almost instantaneous - blotchy skin, swelling, wheezing a bit etc. Pretty scary but he soon recovered. We've accidentally discovered that he's grown out of it though (little blighter helped himself to a cereal bar containing peanuts at a friend's house and had a couple of bites before I spotted him but didn't have any reaction).
