Weaning

Do I really need a mouli?

Or can I manage with passing things through a sieve? I don't have room in my kitchen for any more gadgets! This is for a 7mo who has so far had my own pureed root veg, fruit and a few jars, but I want to be more adventurous and cook peas, sweetcorn etc. Anyone do these things without a mouli?

I'm hoping the OP's now 14 year child no longer requires any kind of weaning solidea, baby-led or otherwise.

Have you tried baby led weaning? No need to mash!

no you dont need one. but if you want to spend money a braun hand held blender thing is much more useful than a mouli and you will carry on using it fo years (soup / smoothies etc.)

You can manage perfectly well with a fork and sieve. I only used a mouli because my mother insisted on buying me one before ds was even born as she said they were a godsend to her when she was weaning my sister and me.

So that you can have the fun of selling things on Ebay, that's why!

Do you want an unopened Boots Annabel Karmel one ? Why do I buy these things, why why why. Rookiemum hits head repeatedly on computer desk.

yes that's true, I did a lot more of the just handing her things with dd too - with ds I was all about purees in ice cubes but I don't think I did that once this time.

i too agonised over similar qustions whilst weaning ds. How i wish i could have been saved the pain of oureeing all those carrots if i'd known about baby led weaning. There's a few threads on it and this blog below is a really good source of info too

At 7 months you can give them mashed with a fork.
My ds is 7 months and eats them whole (but he never had puree, I started on finger food and mashed stuff).

no, you don't. I havd one for ds but it never made it down from the boxes in the loft when I was weaning dd. I just mashed with a fork mostly.
