Fun and 'different' things to do in central London in the summer please

Any ideas for things that would suit two teenage girls, that we won't have done before? Restaurants? Shows? Museums? Activities? Nothing sporty! Obviously we'll go to the South Bank etc, and I'd like to go to Wahacca, but would love off the beaten track ideas too.

Thanks, all. Hint thing looks good. We've done all the Greenwich museums, but not the cable car. I adore the Maritime Museum though, so that could be a good excuse to go back!

Not cheap but a fantastic experience is Hint Hunt. It's near Euston if I remember correctly and you'll need to book. Best in a group of 3-5 age 11+ you get locked in a room and have to find and solve clues to get yourself out. They watch you on cameras and give clues on the screen if you get stuck. Great bonding experience. I think there is a second one in London now but not tried that. Have a look at tripadvisor and rate London attractions top ten and they will both be there.

River boat to 02 then cable car over Thames or river boat to Greenwich visit one of the museums then walk/bus to cable car.

It has been a surprising hot with children I deemed far too sophisticated to enjoy it.

If going to comics exhibition the cafe there does really good Churro's.

Wander through hoxton to geffrye museum. Lunch in Vietnamese place.

John Paul Gaultier at the barbican then hang out In the cafe for a bit.

Am a bit of a theatre snob tbh. Last summer we saw, "Wicked" as dd2 was desperate to, but it's not really my scene. Might drag them to The Globe.

The GLA is the Greater London Authority building - next to Tower Bridge, looks like a testicle motorbike helmet. The Scoop is the open air auditorium below it which does some quite fun theatre over the summer - we're going to see the (heavily edited) Ring Cycle.

Oh, of course! Talking of unusual venues for theatre, have you checked out what's on at Udderbelly? If standup in an inflatable inverted purple cow doesn't fit your bill then I give up.

I second Brixton Village/Brixton Market Row for a bite to eat - all the cool kids are there, and it's just down the Vicky line from where you're staying.

Have you visited Greenwich park before? I love the Observatory, and they do kids shows. The playground is lovely, lots of picnic and running around space, gardens etc. the new Jamie Oliver restaurant in Greenwich is good too. I haven't been on the Cutty Sark but that might be worth it.

Guessing from your username that you're an HP fan. If they are too, you could look into HP walking tours, which visit a number of sites from the books & films. (Haven't done this myself but really should one day).

Vegetarian restaurants I love: Mildreds in Soho; Vanilla Black and Orchard Kitchen, both in Holburn; El Parador in Camden (not veggie but has an amazing selection of vegetarian tapas).

Have been to Woodlands. Rose's looks amazing! Tbh though, we eat curry so much that it would probably be good for us to do something different (though I bloomin' love the stuff!).

If you have the time and fancy something different food wise, get on the jubilee line from Baker Street to kingsbury and try this vegetarian place: www.rosevegetarian.co.uk.

If you go, I would recommend the Mogo chips, chili paneer and crispy bhindi to try - portions are massive.

If you are near Leicester square then it's worth trying woodlands South Indian restaurant - it's also vegetarian - try the paper masala dosa and some idlis there.

If you're up near the Britush Library and the Wellcome Collection, you could easily drop in to the various UCL museums The Petrie Egyptological Collection is fascinating if you like ancient history.
