As Halloween is fast approaching, does anyone have a scary spooky ghost story they'd like to share? Halloween Smile

I'll start.

Years ago, my friend moved into her first house. It was a 4 bedroom that she was sharing with 3 other girls. I helped her move in and that evening we all ordered pizza and stayed up chatting late into the night. I ended up staying over as was too late for me to get home. I stayed on the sofa, but couldn't sleep. I had this very uncomfortable feeling and felt I was being watched or at least that I was not alone. The feeling was overwhelming and I started to feel unsafe or that I was in danger but I couldn't say why, it was just a feeling of being unsafe. I noticed the lights flicker a few times.

The next morning, as everyone was getting up my friend asked me how I slept. I said I hadn't slept and told her how weird I felt and I didn't like the house. She said she felt the same and the other girls said they didn't like the house but it was so cheap compared to other places and they all got on well so they didn't feel they could move out. Everyone had noticed problems with the electricity at one point or another.

As I was leaving, we all walked to the front garden and I started walking to my car in the drive when a neighbour came out and waved hello. I don't know what came over me, but I approached him and asked if he knew the history of the house as we were all feeling a bit strange staying there. He laughed, said he wasn't suprised as the family who previously lived there had been murdered in the house as they slept. Apparently a man had come in through an open window, killed the family and stayed in the house for a few days before the bodies were discovered. Halloween Shock

We looked up the information he gave us about the family and what had happened, and the story was true. Two of the girls moved out that week. I never went back to that house again. I still get shivers thinking about having slept there that night. I don't know if I was feeling the presence of the family or the killer?

Anyone else want to share their experience?

I'm sorry this thread seems to have fizzled out, are there any more experiences? I find them strangely comforting.

A few years ago I bought a house. I knew very little about the history only that the person selling was the child of the previous owners. The house is quite old so I thought perhaps the previous owner went into a care home or something and the children were selling up. I moved in and haven't had any problems but every now and then I would swear that I saw 'something' a shape maybe moving past out of the corner of my eye. I always ignored it and put it down to me being tired. Eventually a neighbour a few doors down approached me one day when I was outside. She asked if I was settling in ok and if I'd had any problems. Problems? No why do you ask? She then told me that the previous owners and one of their children had died in my home. She wouldn't say what happened. When I looked into it a bit further it seems the child died many years ago (I don't know why) and the couple died at seperate times. They were elderly so I presume it was natural deaths.
Now every time I'm in my house and I think I see something going past me I wonder if I'm just tired or if it could be something else. Otherwise I haven't had any other problems here.

The house I lived in before I bought this one was lovely. It had a huge back garden that ended into a large woodland. I never felt fear in the house but I would frequently hear a sort of knocking sound at night that came from the back glass doors. It utterly terrified me. I absolutely would not go into my back garden at night. I'm not aware of anything that happened there but I felt this intense fear in the back garden that I can't even explain.

I posted this on the "have you ever felt the presence of evil" thread but thought I'd re-share here:

When I was a student shared a flat with my best friend, it was a big 2 bed on the ground floor of a Victorian house, really nice flat. My friend is very non-woo but from the minute we moved in we both felt really uneasy, neither of us felt comfortable being alone there and we used to meet up after lectures so we could go home together to avoid being alone. There was a really heavy oppressive atmosphere and it was always freezing (we also got broken into twice and when the police came they commented on how cold it was - warm sunny day outside). Lights used to be switched on when we'd left them turned off, things fell off the walls, footsteps in the corridor. Constantly had the sense of being watched and if I ever slept alone there I was terrified, couldn't turn the lights off. My flatmate told me after we'd moved out she'd felt someone touch her shoulder several times when she was in bed.
The atmosphere was really weird - never have felt like that anywhere else - kind of electric and like there was something there, all the hairs on my neck used to stand on end all the time. Never felt alone there but not in a good way. Another of our friends had had lots of woo experiences and she came round to visit - we hadn't said anything to her as we didn't really talk about it as we didn't want to acknowledge it was real - and as soon as she came in she commented on the atmosphere and said, something bad has happened here.
There was also a cellar which was as big as the actual flat - there was a door off the kitchen with stairs down and looking down the steps into the dark was so horrible that we kept the door locked at all times.
One day we came back from lectures together and both went to our rooms and my friend came rushing to get me and her room was covered in blue ink splodges - the ink was still wet, it was on her records, curtains, the walls - like someone had shaken a fountain pen all over but we didn't have a blue fountain pen in the house.
We moved out after about a year but have never experienced anything like the feeling in that flat - even typing this now 25 years later is giving me chills!

My grandparent's house was a bungalow with a large cellar underneath. There was a long dark hallway that led to the door that had steps down to the cellar. There was no light or windows in that hallway for some reason so even in the daytime it was very dark. I remember being scared of that hallway. Very scared. It seemed unaturally dark and if felt like there was something evil living there like a very dark menacing presence or something. I always avoided it and refused to ever go into the cellar. No matter what mood I was in when I arrived at the house I always felt drained and anxious to leave after a few minutes and I hated staying overnight there as a child.
When I was in my teens my grandfather died from alcoholism and about a year later my grandmother committed suicide. They had been unhappy for a very long time. I always wondered if it was the dark presence that killed them or if they somehow created the dark presence in that house.
