Noticeable how many parents no posting on various threads say they don't want their children exhausted by extra work!

You almost get the impression they want schools open for childcare ...?

I tend to agree with these ones.

£50 per hour usually? Is that really what tutors get paid? I wouldn’t be paying a tutor £50 per hour if they had no teaching qualifications and if it’s going to cost schools £12 per hour why can’t the school pay for TAs to support in class which would be far better at ‘closing the gap’ than forcing kids to spend more hours in lessons.

Schools up north have already started advertising for 121 tutors. £29 per hour if qts.

How are you managing if have own dc. Week here week there. Different data each week.
Can't use family for own childcare. No wraparound available.

Carrie that would be sensible but rich mates who own teaching agencies couldn't cream off a bit that way.
Some secondaries have zero in class support.

@monkeysox My children are 9 and 5. I teach live to timetable all day and they sit in front of devices. I have no family. My son has ASD too. It’s horrible.

£50 is what they will pay the agency. Unqualified uni students will get half or less! So agencies make mega profits from this!
I work as a tutor, QTS and nearly 15 years experience of proven success and with a lot of experience working with ADHD, ASD, dyslexic and students with other learning difficulties such as information processing problems.
The maximum I feel I can charge is £42 ( unless students are outside my normal travel distance) including travel.
I am self employed so this has to cover sickness and holiday pay, all pension contributions etc. I don't work through an agency as I have a waiting list and no need to get an agency to find me work.
I am ' up north' though. Maybe I could charge £50 in London.

Specially trained graduates? Or they could just use actual trained teachers? Like ask us if we want to work and/or maybe consider what has happened to supply teachers and maybe some of them would be up for earning some money?

Of course, this is really some kind of back door entrance to teaching without needing a qualification, isn't it? Deal with the shortage and the numbers of people who can't be in school due to health issues?

I could get a keyworker place but same here, no wraparound, which means I can’t get them to school or pick them up.

I’m dreading next week when we have a parents evening from 4.30-7.30 live. The time my son is most likely to have a sensory meltdown is early evening. I’m dreading it happening in front of parents. It’s happened a few times during the day but I switch the meeting off quickly and make an excuse to kids that my internet went down. I’m not sure parents will be as easy to lie to!

Anyway, off to log on to double Yr 10!

The EEF research doesn't prove this to be true unfortunately. 1:1 intensive tuition is by far the best catch up method, according to research. However, note, they always says it needs to be high quality and programmes using unqualified eg sixth formers are found to be ineffective.
