The litter tray

Best dry food for stinky poos

My moggy's poops are suddenly something else. 🤢 I think the formula of her food has changed.
Any suggestions for dry food that will help would be very gratefully received.

So far we have tried-
Royal canin- very little smell to poo but it become unaffordable.
Morrisons own- caused blood in poop and upset tummy.
Perfect fit- was fine for months until we bought that last bag. Suddenly caused terrible smell and much farting.
AVA- a little better but I can still smell from downstairs when she has used the tray upstairs.

Please help. I can't be one of those pet owners who stinks all the time.🤮

I would never call my cat Stinky Poos.

Imagine being at the vets when they call your name out.

Right now that is one of the more polite things that she is being called.
My 10 year old is wondering about singing 'smelly cat.'

I moved mine onto grain free and that resolved the problem. I have no idea if my cat actually is grain intolerant but his digestive system is much calmer and he's thriving. I buy James Wellbeloved but there are others.

Thank you.
I had the same thought and the AVA one is grain free. It is a bit better than it was but still not as good as when she was on the royal canin.
I just can't justify the cost of that one anymore.

I will have a look at the James Wellbeloved.

James Wellbeloved Hairball works well for us generally, I have 3 Maine Coons and only 1 of them does stinky poos. But she's an idiot that will eat anything, particularly inedible items made of rubber 🙄

Just to check - are you buying online/in bulk? We use Zooplus and get 5 or 10k bags and its cheaper. Obviously you might have a cat that changes its mind and refuses to eat the food as soon as you have bulk bought....

Ours get Purina urinary food as one of them is prone to cystitis. Their poos don't smell and we never have issues with upset stomachs.

They also get Sheba wet,

One of mine's poo's are horrific! She's on Amazon lifelong grain feee. And it's nowhere near as bad as it was. If the little madam, buried them it wouldn't be an issue at all!

My cat is on Hills. When he sticks to his diet there is hardly a smell.

I second Scrumbles, it's been life changing too for my ex homeless street cat,who was scavenging in bins etc.
He contracted an awful illness and had runs for 8 solid weeks.
We practically lived at the vets, but when he recovered we bought Scrumbles.
Part of their logo is something like "Waging war on poos".Honestly it's a brilliant product.

Thank you all so much for the replies and suggestions. I have ordered a bag of the Amazon one to try, just because it was the only one that I could have delivered tomorrow.
Fingers crossed. If not, I will start going through the list of suggestions.

It's amazing isn't it!

Miladdo used to love to shit when I was on a Teams meeting - my eyes would be watering with the smell but I couldn't do anything about it lol!

Your poor baby, what a sad history! Mine's human mum died but he's on his third home and 2 spells in rescue at only a year and a half old!!

😂😹 Sorry but your post made me laugh about the Teams meeting and you nonchalantly carrying on.
It's a brilliant food, and high meat content.
Yes my poor lad has had every illness under the sun over the last 8 years.Numerous abscesses, cat flu, calicivirus, stomatitis causing him to have all his teeth out.Cost us thousands of pounds but we had to give him a chance.
He was born on the streets and kicked from pillar to post for 2 years.Adopted by students then abandoned when they moved on..Not neutered not loved or fed, he was feral.
We scooped him off a 4 lane highway must have been a shock for him. How he didn't get run over I will never know.
He was drinking from puddles that had a rainbow of oil on the surface. He's a little hero, but it's had an effect on him He can be difficult, is not trusting of people, won't come near us etc I feel really sad when I look at him The vet even thought he had a fracture in his face as he has a dent between his eyes.
Bless him.
Most could have been prevented by neutering as a kitten.I feel so strongly about this.

Oh I am sorry to hear about all of the poor little ones who have not had the best starts in life. It's so nice to hear that they are so loved now.

@Toddlerteaplease I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you from our whole household. The Amazon food has made a massive difference and we can all breathe freely again.

I've another funny - he fell backwards off my dining table (where he insists on sleeping, so I have throws on) today while I was in a meeting. I just saw his desperate little face disappear over the edge of the table, clutching desperately onto his throw, which went with him!!!

That's great news! I've never in a lifetime of having cats had one with such a sensitive tummy as this guy. It was such a relief when Scrumbles worked for him!
