If you normally work, how are your cats taking lockdown?

Fuming. He can't do "cat THINGS". Also demanding food 24/7 and throwing himself on the floor in despair

Mine isn’t arsed as she continues to sleep all day no mater that there are 5 of us at home

Mine loves having us around but spends a lot of time demanding that windows be opened for him. He has a cat flap but will only exit the house via window or open back door. If forced to, he will re-enter through his flap, but only if he’s sat on the outside windowsill for 10 minutes or so and no one has got up to open it for him.

Thankfully the good weather this week has meant that we can leave the windows open. The first week of lockdown was chillier and I did get fed up of having to get up and down so often to let him in and out.

My 19 year old has decided to replace all her fur with velcro. I can get nothing done.

I think its confused my 6 mth old female as she had got used to me being out of the house all day at work. She now thinks I function as her doorman, having massive tantrums if I dont let her out on command literally swinging off the door handle!..she was due to be spayed the day we went into lockdown but obviously got cancelled so doing stints in the garden under supervision which is literally like trying to herd cats!

We've only had our cat for 5 weeks. He hid for the first few weeks so didn't really have time to get in to a routine. He seems to like our company. He usually chooses to be near us which is nice.

Ours normally get showered with attention when I'm home, so now I'm working from home they can't understand why I won't provide attention / food / pats / entertainment all day long on tap. One of them has actual tantrums just like a toddler when I won't play with him

We have gone through an enormous amount of cat food as the kids are not hardened cat-ignorers and simply give in and throw pouches at them. One child is livid that dcat2 wants to follow her around all the time, dcat2 is depressed that she is unloved. Dcat1 is loving that DH has been out digging in the garden, and likes to wee in any hole DH makes which annoys DH. He then likes to come in and sleep on DC's bed which annoys dc, and dcat1 doesn't understand why as he usually spends at least 4 hours asleep on DC's bed with no one disturbing him.

Perhaps it'll all work out in the end.

Before i wrote this post I was remembering when I was still living at the family home and we had cats. I seem to remember that when we were all off (school holidays and dad having days off) the cats would give us a look, although they soon realised that their daddy (my dad) would be around. That man was a cat (and kid) magnet! but the looks we got if we sat on their sofas!!

Ours has taken herself off behind the tv in the conservatory and spends all day there. I don't think she's happy with DS being in the house all day. He's 12 and incredibly loud, dramatic and annoying. She will come for a cuddle in the morning when it's just the two of us in the kitchen, then when Boyo comes crashing downstairs she runs off to hide. Can't say I blame her.

Yes, she thinks she is going to get fed every time I go to the kitchen. She's really clingy and is sleeping on my pillow - even when it's night time!

@thecatneuterer I have, Ive like folded it up and back on itself. The litter tray itself is massive and I keep picking her up and plopping her in to bring it to her attention. She has a sniff round and just saunters back out 🐱

@bobbityboop I think that little flap could be the problem. Lots of cats don't like them. I would take it off.

My are loving it, but I've noticed how much they sleep. Wake up have breakfast - go back to sleep. Wake up for lunch, mooch in the garden and then come back in for a nap. Wake for a snack - play for a bit. Have dinner go back to sleep. Wake up again, demand some attention, play, demand some supper and then go back to sleep.

Mine still scuttle out of the house at 7.30am and return at 4pm, they don't like change! I've become really needy and keep going outside looking for them during the day but they're nowhere to be seen

My cat is very happy to have us home all the time. She loves company and sitting on laps.

Mine was bringing in more mice but then giving us the "why have you not gone out to catch your own" look.
But now she's hurt her leg so is laying low.

Mine started pissing on my rug too the little twerp. I've ordered some of that "simple solutions enzyme breakdown solution" so get rid of the smell.

I also spent £25 on a luxurious litter tray with a little flap but the litter is suspiciously clean and untouched.

I also think there is a new cat in the neighbourhood which isn't helping matters, she isn't venturing out as much. Good job I love the malicious little gargoyle.

Our two are seemingly loving it. One of them follows me everywhere (when she’s awake!!), which is unusual for her...usually she’d tend to follow me outside, but not inside the house, so it’s definitely a new behaviour.

All of mine are delighted that they can sleep all day on our beds. Both of the older boy cats sleep on our bed. Girlcat sleeps on DD's bed and young boycat shuttles between both beds, depending on who he wants to annoy most.
