The litter tray

Obie has been missing for 48 hours :(

He never goes off for more than a couple as he likes his food :(

My neighbour popped round earlier because he hadn't been round (he likes her cat and they hang out together in her garden while I'm at work) and NO-ONE has see him for two days.

I am now seriously concerned. He's friendly, stupid, and a spectacularly large and striking Maine Coon, even with his current shaved patch.. very stealable and equally likely to get shut in a shed :(

Vibes that he reappears please.. I have a bad feeling about this, and I can't bear the thought of not knowing...

Any news? I would be beside myself with worry.

I love hearing about Obie and Ophie and I really hope he comes home very, very soon. They worry us so.
My little Birman girl came home in the early hours of one morning after 56 hours' absence. I counted every minute.
My heart goes out to you.

Fingers crossed for his safe return.

Pearl turned up after almost a week.

I did flyers through doors. About 200 as TCN suggests. I cried all the way round, it was horrible. However the cat turned up in the early hours of the next morning so maybe the flyers had a positive effect. It also gave me something to do that felt like helping the cat as I had reached the stage of sitting at home bursting into tears every 15 minutes.

Can you knock on doors and ask people to check their sheds and garages?

Sorry about him being missing, you must be frantic.

Yes, leaflets through letterboxes is the way to go. Aim for at least two hundred.

Still no sign.. I've been to the Blue Cross this morning to log him as missing and put him on the missing pets register online. He is microchipped so if picked up is identifiable.

I hadn't thought of flyers..that's a great idea, thank you..I'll make some this afternoon.

Is he microchipped?

Have any neighbours gone away? Could he be stuck in a garage or house?

Report
fenneltea · 21/06/2015 11:06

I always put leaflets through peoples letterboxes when one of mine does this, just asking them to check sheds and garages. She's been locked in twice now!

I hope he returns home today, he's so huge, somebody is bound to have seen him about if he's wandering.

Can you record Ophies miaow on your phone and play it while you walk? I heard cpl have done this to catch mum cats where theyve got the kits but mum has run off.

Unfortunately I emptied the hoover after using it yesterday..bin day so it's gone. Have to say it does make me smile at the thought of emptying the hoover round the street tho... I suspect someone would call the police :D

I've stuck posters up around now , and called round all the garages nearby. I'll go again once it's dark.

Have you emptied the contents of your vaccum cleaner contents around your surrounding area? A tip I'd never heard of until I came on here.

So sorry to hear this, Medusa, Obie is a Litter Tray institution. Sure he's probably going to do the 'saunter in' thing in a day or two, but it's hell in the meantime.

Report
MedusaIsHavingaBadHairday · 20/06/2015 19:14

No sign yet. I've put up posters and logged him with all the local vets etc.. Just about to go walkabout round all the nearby garage blocks (calling him and crying no doubt, looking like the archetypal mad cat lady!)

I hate this. It's just not HIM... he is too greedy to stay away from the kitchen unless he can't get home.

Keep checking back to see if your little adventurer has returned. I hope he's back home tomorrow.

It's meant to be nice tomorrow so maybe sheds will be opened. I am so sorry you havent seen him for so long.

Report

Oh no Medusa! How worrying. There does seem to be something around the age of 7-12 months that has some cats just disappearing for a prolonged exploratory stroll. Fingers crossed this is all that has happened here. Keep checking, keep calling him. I know you will be frantic but it is still early days, try to stay hopeful.
