Should I report these people?

People in the vicinity have a cat who doesn't seem to be fed. He comes in my house constantly, has stolen lots of food and trashed my kitchen bin to find food.

My own cat is virtually a prisoner as I'm scared to leave the cat flap open in case the other one comes in.

These people have previously gone abroad and rented out their house to DSS tenants and left another cat behind. The tenants didn't bother with it so other neighbours fed it.

This current cat is a sweet little thing. I don't shout at it as it's not its fault that it's always hungry.

Would I BU to report them to RSPCA?

I'd report but I'd be feeding it outside. I couldn't see a cat go hungry even if it was horrible to mine.

I would also report. I would also check it was neutered. If it's an unneutered female then it would be catastrophic to just leave her. And yes, please feed him/her until something can be done.

I did think about feeding it at the back door, but thought that might seem like I was encouraging it.

It's heartbreaking to see its little face peeping through the cat flap .

Why the hell these people got another cat when they couldn't be bothered with the last one, I'll never know.

you wouldn't be unreasonable no, but can you feed the cat so it isn't hungry and isn't trying to get in your housez?

i'd be tempted to take him in and call cats protection and say he's a stray

Cakey I did think about catching him but he's so scared that as soon as I appear, he's off like a shot.

I think he may have been shouted at or worse by less understanding neighbours

If you fed him you'd gain his trust & then you could catch him. If nothing else the rescue can trap, neuter & release.

Thanks for advice. I'll get some food for him tomorrow and see what happens.

Have you got an aldi nearby? Their tins of salmon, tuna or chicken are 42p a can & cereal free.

I haven't got Aldi but there is a Lidl and I think they have some cheap food

Needs water too.
