Cat wee

hello,

My dh has 4 Persian cats. One of them wee's everywhere, she'll do it right in front of you and does it a couple of times a day. We are currently staying at my Mils and here lounge (where the cats are staying) now stinks of wee, I'm constantly wiping it up, but I'm sure she has wee'd whilst we are out and I can't find some spots.
We have said that the cats will primarily stay in the large kitchen dinner, family room area in our new house, but right now I don't want this particular cat, moving in with us, I don't want a house that smells of cat wee and it's unhygienic and dirty. I want to get her a run in the garden that she can live in, but my dh isn't having any of it, I really feel like I can't live with her, I'm at my wits end. Please help me, what can I do?

Thanks.

Thank you, we have 2 feliways in quite a small area, we did have 5 litter trays but dh got fed up filling them up so they are coming back. I got urine off and repel all yesterday and I've ordered the torch this am.
The little mare wee'd again!
Dh is going to take her to the vet. We've 2weeks till we move...

Thanks for the advice,

I think there are some good comment and things to try here like more litter trays. My cat sprays inside when he has a UTI. It is his way of telling me - he does it in front of me.

You could have a stressed cat. There is a product called Feli-away ( I think it is called that). Expensive but supposed to have shown good results.

You might have a cat that just does not want to be part of a gang. It wants to be the only one. We had a cat who adopted us, he left his home due to hating the other cats there. Came to live at ours.

Cleaning wise I find washing with biological washing liquid or powder solution then spraying with a mix of surgical spirit and water removes the scent for the cat.

My sympathies. It's a vile smell.

How many litter trays do you have? The general rule is one per cat plus one extra so with 4 cats you should have 5...make sure they are in different parts of the house and experiment with different types of litter until you find one your cat likes.

You also need to spray the areas where she has weed with something like Urine Off, or Pets at Home do their own version. If you don't remove the odour completely (and cats will be able to smell it even if you can't) then the cat will keep going in the same area.

You can also get a black light torch (try eBay) which will show up the areas that have urine on them.

Finally, please take the cat to the vet as this can often be a symptom of a urinary tract infection.

I would stop wiping up after her and make your DH do it every time for a start!

I love my cats but I wouldn't put up with constant weeing like you describe. Assuming you've ruled out health problems etc I would explore the possibility of heated outdoor chalet and run like they are in at cattery if you have space.

I'd make her live outside, or tbh I would get rid of her Blush
