The doghouse

Our dog only really gets walked once a day - is it enough?

An hour off lead walk in the mid morning generally. Then some ball-chasing in the garden after work or some brain games, frozen Kongs etc. Occasionally a walk round the block for a sniff but not that often. She's 20 months old. Is it enough? She seems ok with it and settles down to zonk out for the night between 8 and 9pm.

Does being chased around by three boys count as ‘brain games’ Grin

We have an anxious reactive dog and used to do 2 x 20 mins on lead / neighbourhood walks plus one park visit (massive park lots of space to walk and run away from other dogs) every day. On the advice of a behaviourist we've actually swapped the on lead walks for indoor/garden play and enrichment activities and she's a much happier dog with just once a day out of the house off lead. It really does depend on the dog!
