The doghouse

I am simply being curious- people with lots of dogs, how do you afford insurance?

It surely must cost a fortune? Or is there a multi- pet discount like with multicars? None of my business, I know, but I'm just curious! I pay £24 a month for my single one, and think that's quite a lot.

We have three dogs and a cat. The insurance on all four comes in at about £85 a month Shock

Some time ago we were on the bones of our arse but still kept the insurance going. I have had a couple of hefty payouts over the years and know that we would be unable to absorb that loss without insurance. We can afford it now but we don't spend money on new cars or designer clothes.

The insurance rockets over the age of about 8. I was paying £75+/month/dog and I realised, given the ages of the dogs that it was getting ridiculous. You can get 3rd party really basic insurance which is cheap and stays cheap. Self-insurance is an option if you have a slush fund of about £5000 or you can keep putting the money away.

Oh, so it's not too bad. I thought it was something like £24x amount of dogs. You would need to have a pot of gold at the end of the rainbow to insure them all!

I have one lab and it costs £30/month for insurance. Would love another lab but expensive insurance is part of the reason we are sticking with one.
