Came down this morning to find our darling staffy dead .
She has been unsettled for about a week and so we knew she didn't have much longer .
We were both downstairs cuddling her at 2 this morning as she was uncomfortable and not breathing well :(
She was 16 so a very good age .
My comfort is she will get to meet again our very best boy staffy who died last may and was her play mate through life .
Rip my little girl , heaven has a very special place for an extra special girl .

Theo your so on to something there , why can they do so much scientific research on things lasting longer and our beloved furbabys last such a short time .
At least I have the comfort that when I die I will meet my darling furbabys again x

Thank you minkersmum
If only I had the money and time I would love to do more for the neglected dogs of this world .
It makes me so sad that so many dogs get pts because they have no one to love them x

Thank you everyone :)
We picked up her ashes today which was hard as we now have 2 little wooden boxs side by side ( 1 with our very best boy in and 1 with our old girl in ) with so many memories of 2 very special dogs who were our life for so many years .
They gave us so much , good and bad .
We will never forget them and miss them lots but need to move on and make new memorys with pup .
I pray they both crossed that rainbow bridge and found each other again .

So so sorry and lots of love. I just can't get why they can genetically modify a tomato to live for years beyond its shelf life but nobody will create a long life dog. 16 years isn't enough xxxx

Glad he's ok.

My vet suggested we brought our boy into see Oldgirl when she passed. She explained that, in her experience, it really helps them to understand and handle it. Unfortunately we didn't have him with us and bitterly regret it now, as of course he developed separation anxiety without her there.

Be kind to yourself and comforted by the fact she was able to choose her time and left when she was ready, safe in the knowledge of how much she was loved. Flowers

Thank you so much everyone . Your kind messages mean so much .
moose pup is fine thank you , he sniffed her body this morning but seemed calm about it .
Hoping him being only dog may help him as when old girl was wandering lost most evenings he wouldn't settle as he was wondering what she was doing .
Everytime she coughed he would get up to check on her .Bless him .
Thanks to all you kind people

Thank you so much .
Yes a very much loved dog .
But a relief that we didn't have to put her to sleep .
I knew it wouldn't have been long before I had to ring vet and ask him to come out , and the waiting for the vets car is just so terrible , you feel like you are killing them :(
I am relieved her body gave up as her mind went about a year ago , she got lost in the house and garden .
But while she was still eating and drinking I couldn't give up on her .
Just a bit shocked to have found her dead , mind you she did look peaceful :)
