Need to rehome my dog - don't know how

I've got a 15 mth old staffie/sharpay cross bitch. I've had her for about 6 months now, she was an abandoned dog found by DS and taken in by us. Unfortunately things really aren't working out. Although she's mostly sweet natured she has snapped at DD (4) several times and last weekend snapped at her face twice, not breaking the skin, but leaving marks. DD was not doing anything inappropriate or aggressive towards the dog at the time. As a result of this I really don't think I can keep her anymore, I'm scared she'll hurt DD. I don't know what to do.

All dogs have a potential to bite, regardless of breed. You may be statisically more likely to be bitten by a Chihuahua that a Staffie, but HELLO, being bitten by a Staffie is far more likely to have serious consequences!!!

I know there are lovely soft natured Staffs, Labs, Boxers, GSDs and other big dogs out there, as well as some seriously nasty ones of all breeds.

But the OP has said that this Staff / Sharpei cross is showing aggressive tendancies. Its not a Chihuahua having a bit of a snap, but a huge great dog!

Bugger the statistics, I would absolutely not be taking the risk with any sort of large dog showing agression. I would get rid.

And it is always bull terriors that cause horrific injuries to children. I have a scar across my nose from a Jack Russell and thank god it wasn't a Staff that decided to launch itself at me as a child.

And Tilly i happen to agree with all you wrote. We must never forget a pet is still an ANIMAL.

My view has always been that if you get a staffie from birth and treat it well, it will be no more dangerous than any other dog.

Unfotuntaley, far too many owners don't treat their staffies well. Not the dogs' fault of course. So there are too many out there with issues.

I have friends who are senior vet nurses & they actually agree with me in this instance. The dog has sadly shown aggression already. What do you want this lady to do ? Wait until it does a proper job ? How can you sit there & give the dog another opportunity ?

Look at the pictures on the link ... yes, statistically there have been probably more cases of Labs showing aggression BUT it's the damage these Staffies & x Staffies do that is my point !

I have scars on my face from being bitten as a young child by a terrier x, it never put me off dogs BUT I have a bigger respect for dogs than maybe some people.
I DO NOT support putting healthy dogs to sleep, I would do my utmost to rehome wherever possible, of which I have done. In fact my own dog is an RSPCA rescue but you absolutely CANNOT take any chances with a dog who has shown aggression to a child.

So, please do not insult me by saying you are glad I am no longer a vet nurse. You cannot tell me a professional would actually support this dog being in a home with young children. Oh, & get your facts right, I am not a breed hater either.
