Am I being totally ridiculous over these worries; stressed that rescue dog may never get on with other dogs, even though i am going to have one to one help after neutering op, next, that dog will never be able to go off lead in garden because he harasses the guinea pigs and I am afraid they are going to have a heart attack, next, that if anyone ever let's him out of his crate when he is barking that he will always bark to get out, and finally that, when we go on holiday in summer without him and he is at the dog minder that I will never get him back into his routine. She has dogs, early risers, 6 am. I know this may sound silly, but it is all really playing heavily on my mind.

My dog still harasses the guinea pigs....they ignore her completely

My dog doesn't get on with other dogs (she had a border terrier hanging off her bottom this morning, It was lucky I had hold of her or she would have swallowed it)

Teach him 'Quiet' and then let him out of his crate. Hopefully he won't always need a crate so that worry shouldn't be long term

Don't know about the last one. I've never had 'nagging' dogs they just wait to get up when we get up

I'm often stressed about my dogs, one is quite hard work as she doesn't like other dogs much, and my other dog keeps going next door to play with the children, which is fine at the moment as they have only just moved in, but i think the novelty will wear off soon but by then I won't be able to stop him!

most of the time though they are lovely!
Try not to stress about stuff that doesn't really matter. Like the early start and the crate. The guinea pig thing is a bit harder to stop.

I'm sure someone more helpful will be along soon Grin

Thanks, yes the guineas situation is really difficult, the other thing is I want to be able to walk him with other dogs and friends and then go on for a coffee or pub lunch, but not sure this will ever happen.

we moved our Guinea pig (one died before we got the dog of a heart attack) to a corner of the garden and get our dog (also a rescue) to come back to us for a treat if he goes near the hutch. He loves treats so he now hardly ever bothers the guinea pig (although think the guinea pig is more stressed by the 4DCs trying to play with him TBH)Grin

Pimms, I am trying that, but as he is a terrier mix, he is so focused and zoned out that I am fining it difficult, it might be easier after the kids go back to school, and when he has recovered from neutering. You can see them from sitting room patio doors and even though he tries to stop himself sometimes, he jumps right up off the floor against the doors then takes himself off to the kitchen and continues jumping up against the cupboards in there. He seems to be so pumped with adrenalin that he needs to getting out of his system, but getting stressful as I don't want to shut the curtains, and he is pushing the boundaries about coming into the sitting room without being asked.
