did anyone watch The Marchioness disaster last night?

thought it was so moving. I didn't really know anything about the disaster and also had no idea that Jonathan Phang organised it, despite me being an ANTM fan!

Was so upsetting and moving, I just can't imagine having ALL your social circle wiped out at a party.

Did the Bobell get charged with anything does anyone know?

Nige - No one suggested he was going to recover, more a case of saying he would never recover. And recover was said as "recover". Meaning as you so put it "live with it."

Who said it was a Hollywood film?

Ofcourse he isnt going to "recover" this isnt a Hollywood film -this is reality.As one of the survivors says in the programme - you just learn to live with it like with any disability.I am sure with the right therapy he will feel better over the years and his guilt will diminish but the feelings of loss, trauma and grief will always be there. It is the guilt that has stopped him living properly....it is the biggest killer of all

Scary it's on the BBC iplayer for another 6 days.
I watched this and can remember hearing about it as clear as day. 1989 the summer of love - I was crying buckets when I heard Keep on moving by the fantastic Soul II Soul. My heart went out to Jonathan he always comes across as a lovely confident man.

I was on the Marchioness for a party a month before the accident - we were there having our end of degree celebration so it's always been an extra shuddering tragedy for me

I'm not saying he wasn't brave - I don't know how he has kept going BUT as a piece of television I didn't think it was very good.

He was brave. My heart went out to him. No I don't suppose you ever recover from something so immense. Like you say Very, living with it is the best you can hope for. His demons will probably never die.

I don't think "recovery" is really on the agenda with this kind of tragedy, especially when you've done your best to ignore it for 20 years. Learning to live with it is probably the best you can hope for. I could very much identify with many of the feelings of guilt and responsibility he raised in the programme, and thought it was incredibly brave of him to open up so much after 20 years.

I watched it. Like Clarice, I thought there was no sort of conclusion to it. Of course he'll never get over it fully, but like you say, there was sort of no end to it.

It was very upsetting, I can remember it happening.

I think the Beau Belle (sp?)owners were charged but can't quite remember the outcome.

I didn't think it was that good a documentary. We didn't really see him at the very end and whether he has "recovered".
