Big Brother - the last lap

I'm starting a new thread because the other one's a bit full now (and seems to have gone dead as well).

Considering how much time Rex spent bigging My Girlfriend up before she even came into the nouse, telling us she was a princess, etc, surely the least he can do is be loyal to her now. But here he is apportioning blame for bad feeling between them and Kat and Mo, when Mo was in jail. My Girlfriend, needless to say, wasn't present:-

"Nicole said, 'Why do we have to have a campaign for Mo today' blah blah blah. But anyway, you know. Nicole's only bringing problems to this house. For me, anyway. You know, she's obviously not grown up enough to be here. What she has to understand, what she doesn't understand, she says, 'I can't stand being around theeese people', What you have to understand is that in here that's the whole point of being here, that you're around people that you wouldn't normally socialise with. And I understand that more than anyone, you know. I'm not similar to anyone here. I'm not similar to Nicole either."

Great. Short of saying "Get Nicole out", what more could he do to make his wishes clear? My Girlfriend has become My Burden.

What made this year particularly dodgy was the bias shown towards Rex by the producers. For the last two weeks I can remember no one coming out of the Diary Room with the laminate for a new task except him. He was treated as de facto head of house, the master of ceremonies. He had pole position every time. And of course, it makes sensse that one of the last tasks was a cookery class overseen by him, in the light of what we know about his ambitions to be a TV chef. He had his back scratched all the way.

Very glad he didn't win.

The best parts of BB are the tasks and watching them all in the montages with their various costumes and 'missions' is really good viewing, imo. I loved that video remake they did early on with Stu, Rex, Dale etc on the running machines. and I even liked Thriller despite who was leading it. The rows make for compelling but depressing viewing... I'm glad the early bullies were ejected and the later bullies lost out to the nicer housemates.

Clips from Rachel and Sara's treatment at the hands of Rex, Darnell and Mo should be shown to kids at secondary school to demonstrate how deflections and lack of reaction can deflate a bully rather than rising to a row at every opportunity. Rex only succeeeded in making himself look a king-sized cock with his relentless nastiness, trying to get a rise out the those girls (and Lisa to some extent).

Still think it's a very interesting social experiment despite all the wannabe behaviour from some.

Agree Monkey, niceness prevails ... my faith in humankind is restored after being subjected to awful people like Alex and Dennis.

If being a decent human being is boring then I am glad to be boring and dull ...

I too hope that Endemol focus on decent people having fun next year and not exploiting the more dodgy aspects of some peoples personalities.

I hated seeing all the nastiness, bitching and gang forming, lets see some good old fashioned fun and frolics with lots more focus on funny tasks etc. We can still have the eccentric individuals but no more obviously angry and 'chip on the shoulder' people please.

I'm sure BB will be redeemed if that's the case.

She isn't boring. She is quite extraordinary on a very profound level.

I think something is amiss that people have trouble seeing that. They seem to be expecting more, but the emptyness is in them, not Rachel - that's my opinion

ten years... and they did say they will be back next year. Joy .

I'm glad that the final 3 were the nicest of the housemates. Maybe Endemol should remember that when they are auditioning next year.

Blergh! I expect Rachel will be coming to a BBC Wales radio Programme/TV programme near me soon. How boring. I wish it had been Rex or Sara. Dullest Big Brother EVER!

they are going to have to pull something special out of the bag for the 10th anniversary if they expect me to watch next time. Hrrmmph.

Well done to the public for not voting for shits just because they're "entertaining". I bet Endemol never expected that result. I think they put Rachel in as early-exit cannon fodder. But she overturned the form books. Me, I don't care how "boring" she is, I'm glad she won, and really stuck it to the Ginger Tom. (Sorry he likes to think of himself as "strawberry blonde", doesn't he? How sweet!)

Silly girl

Monkeytrousers · 06/09/2008 11:07

I think she is amazingt actually. She has such strength of character. I think she will go very far indeed.

And it's nice that a woman winning won't be on the front page of the Sun with her arse in the air.

She is on my list of positive female role models

stuff I found funny on bb last night:

belinda belinda belinda wearing the same dress as davina. Cept it looked more like a sparkly bin bag.

jen's sulky head. Looking a bit of a twat doing pantomine boos and thumbs to rachel then looking like she was going to burst into tears wwhen Dale said they were finished

rex's posing. OMG. He needed to put up one knee and hold hand up to brow to complete catalogue posturing effect. And yep - thought he looked like bad freddie mercury too!

But yeah - was really rubbish. Feel a bit ashamed and dirty that i still get sucked in after 9 years of sameold bolleaux

Jbck · 06/09/2008 10:53

Rex looked like a bad Freddie Mercury impersonator in his outfit & rubbish poses

Laughed at Davina tho' shouting to Luke about Rachel's alleged gameplan. 'It worked though Luke!'

What a bitter and twisted lot the ex-housemates were on BBBM!

When asked who thought Rachel was a worthy winner only Kat put her hand up. The rest were still sniping and making faces. Hopefully Rachel will just wave the cheque in front of their faces and walk away....

anniebear · 06/09/2008 09:57

Oh thank goodness Sara and Rachel beat Rex!!!!

did anyone see the pose he did in front of the photographers when he got out

he even held his collars up and did poses!

then at the final goodbye to all the house mates the camera went along the row and everyone laughed and waved

but Rex just did his catalogue posh

ugghh

If you remember when Luke left the house he warned Mikey to 'watch his back in the house' which was primarily directed re Rachel. I think he went in thinking he was a dead cert to win. So how 'real' is his relationship with Bex. Luke was the one who was constantly on about people only being in there to win the £100k, but surely that is what the game is about isn't it? Oh and that people would do something to get magazine deals and to appear on other shows. Well what has he been doing? Hasn't he made a mockery of marriage by stating that fake wedding in Las Vegas with Bex dressed as god know what and appearing on 8 out of 10 cats to mention just one.
