Greys Anatomy or ER

I've just finished watching Chicago Med which Amazon recommended after I finished New Amsterdam.

Both GA and ER are coming up as recommended. Not sure which to go for.

Any suggestions??

ER definitely. Greys is so annoying now - they should have brought it to an end at least 2 seasons ago.

ER without a doubt. It is one of the best tv shows of all time. I have just rewatched them all on All4 and was hooked all over again. I had to skip a few as they were too upsetting - Mark dying, Pratt dying - mainly favourite characters dying 😂.

Currently bingeing GA, watched most of it as and when it came out in the US as lived there. Used to watch it religiously but just dipped in and out of latter series. Up to series 10 so far and enjoying it! Will start ER (which I also watched first time round!) after I’m caught up with Greys Grin

Season 13! Ultimately GA is a soap opera and ER a medical drama.

My daughter and I watched both (still on season 23 of ER but have been sidetracked by Downton Abbey). ER is superior. GA just lost it and it seemed all about sex in the closet, sex in the on call room, sex in the.... i had to tell my daughter that hospitals are not hot beds of illicit liaisons. I did like the spin off show Private Practice though.

ER

@1940s that sounds great.

I might start ER again from the beginning when I’ve finished with Spooks. The one with Ray Liotta may be my favourite (SOB)

I've watched both but ER is definitely more realistic/well thought out storylines.

ER. I'm so jealous you get to watch it for the first time.

ER best programme ever

I have watched the whole series again and again. And would do so again.

Another vote for ER and I’ve seen them both.

Definitely go for ER. The characters and storylines from the early seasons were so well written.
I am currently on a rewatch and struggled through season 13/14 where the quality dipped and it became quite soapy but I’m now on the last season (15) and it is so enjoyable!

ER definitely. When you watch it, you will see how many storylines Chicago Med copied from there!

Last winter French TV was showing several episodes of both each day so I binged on both. Interesting to see how many storylines GA had pinched from ER and how many actors appeared in both! Callie was working on a checkout in ER.

I think ER was far superior.

Since I may have found my people I will share a fantasy with you.

Lovely hotel room with massive bubble bath in the bedroom. Husband and toddler at home far far away. Me full weekend with snacks, ER and room service. New pyjamas.

(Longing to watch a programme in peace without toddler or DH asking what 'nonsense' I'm watching)

ER 100%. The recurring episode arc set in Africa is brilliant.

ER by a million miles - better acting, better plots just better but also because I cannot stand Meredith Grey and hate the voice over musings

Looks like its ER then - thanks

@1940s ER is on the all4 app not Prime - sorry 🙈

@DonLewis Chicago Med is fab. Im off work sick just now and watched all 5 seasons in just over a week. Definitely recommended

I've seen every episode of both so apart from being a vicariously qualified emergency physician, I feel supremely qualified to reply to this question 😂
ER is your choice for more gritty drama and relatable continuous storylines. Excellent character stories for the main cast. Lots of good medical content (clearly not talking in terms of medical accuracy but watchability for the typical viewer).
George Clooney. Needs no further explanation.
Yes, the older series do look dated but they're over 20 years old!
Greys is more glossy American drama, good looking characters, state of the art hospital etc.
Medical content is less and of more rare / unrealistic diagnoses (in my opinion!) think more like House.
Main cast drifted off quite early on and weren't replaced with strong enough characters to form a running interest in the show.
However, in the absence of any more ER, Greys is a good second choice.
To summarise: start with ER and move straight on to Greys.
STAT!!
