Is it possible to record a programme on Freeview?

I'm sure I've tried before and it didn't work. Has anyone actually managed to do this - and how?

btw, the programme I want to record is 'Town Bloody Hall' which I saw years ago, but it is on too late for me to stay up and watch it! (yes I am an old fart before anyone asks!)

Ok will give it a trial run with the video tuned to Freeview (once the kids are in bed).

lol Cappucino! The back of our TV looks like spaghetti junction. I've no idea what goes where tbh.

Thanks everyone

MAN stuff, not MSN stuff! (although if you had a clever man-type on your MSN, that would work).

Msn stuff in our house too...but this is how I think it works. We put our video onto L1 and then put the TV to show the channel we want to record onto. (Don't think we've ever done it in advance and set the timer). The pesky thing is then that you have to keep (we do, at any rate) the TV either switched on on that channel with the sound off, or switched off completely.
It's a clumsy, clumsy system - perhaps have a trial run in advance?

We do but it's man stuff in our house - don't know how it works, sorry.

it all depends on how your SCART leads are set up

I used to be able to but then we moved house and dh set it up again and it didn't work

it depends on whether or not they're feeding into your video I think

but I'm a girl and I don't really understand it

I must lie down now, I'm getting one of my heads

If you tune your video onto the freeview channel then if you leave the freeview on the channel you want it should tape OK. Might be worth doing a trial run first just to check.

I think you need to have a hard disc thing. My mum and dad have one (but we don't). I know that's not much help really, but it is possible *(think it cost about £130)
