Coming back next month, according to the Guardian.

I always think it's funny when they say make jam / custard and a bunch of them have never done that. I have sympathy when it is a really hard thing to bake.

I adore GBBO. Have started rewatching the last series in anticipation of it coming back.

If you took into account all the (ahem) people with worse histories than adulterers who are on T.V. and in public life you wouldn't watch or listen or read anything Hmm

TBH if I'm watching a program about bread ad cakes and baking then I'm really not bothered who has slept with who etc.

I very rarely refuse to watch things unless the person on it has done something illegal or if they're highly irritating.

Is that how TVs work? Blimey! WinkGrin

To my mind, there is enough about the GBBO that is worth watching, that I can ignore PH.

lol that told me then..... Smile

I happen to be discerning in my viewing anyhow - I would not be scrabbling for the remote - as I am one of those odd people who choose what to watch and put the TV on... then switch it off when I have watched what I want....

Exactly meso !

I would imagine your viewing is severely limited if you scrabble for the remote every time someone's on who can't keep his dick in his pants!

I will be watching as usual - I LOVE shows like this, family viewing at its best. Mary is a legend! Will also be choosing my favourite by end of week 2!!

PH should know better but he won't be the last dumbass to risk everything.... Happens every. single. day.

I suppose so. But I am willing to forgive and forget stuff that doesn't affect me and isn't illegal.

MadeOfStarDust · 22/07/2013 18:37

I do to some extent - surely if you do not like a person, for whatever reason, you tend not to watch them

Report
ExitPursuedByABear · 22/07/2013 18:29

Gosh. Do you really let your views on someone's morals dictate which programmes you watch?

Report
NicknameIncomplete · 22/07/2013 18:24

I have only watched the last series.

I loved it but i am torn whether to watch it or not. I hope they show very little of PH. I hate cheats

imademarion · 22/07/2013 16:45

Yes. We all have to choose a favourite by end of week two.

Anyone else remember the squirrel's balls?

I bet that was Mel or Sue. I have a bad crush on both of them, and titter ingratiatingly even when they're just saying 'welcome' with a cocked eyebrow.

We will be watching, and disregarding the negative press about PH, as the show is about more than PH. Love watching how the contestants improve week on week, Mary's penchant for alcohol ("it could do with more") and Paul's scrutinising stare that leaves the contestant thinking they've done the worst when actually the scrutinising stare is a wry "that's good" appraising stare.

I agree too Grin imade I 'm the same about GBBO like cafenoir I love it and I don't even eat wheat (i do bake with non wheat flour though I make a mean chocolate almond cake Grin)

Yes Mel and Sue are great too also the way Mary and Paul seem to unscriptedly play off one another!

cafenoir · 22/07/2013 15:49

Great. Glad it's back soon. I have no idea why I love it quite as much as I do. I can't bake to save my life, I don't particularly like pastry, don't eat much bread and unless a cake is chocolate based, I'm not that bothered about cake either. But I absolutely LOVE this programme :) Maybe because it's so comforting and I start rooting for particular people. Plus yy to Mel and Sue being cool and droll.

I absolutely agree; they've got papers to sell and prurient curiosity to satisfy.

I just meant that I'm not interested in his personal life, and won't be put off watching an excellent bit of comfort entertainment just because he no longer wanted to be in a marriage that I know bugger all about.

ppeatfruit · 22/07/2013 15:39

Sadly imademarion It seems when in the 'public eye' a lot, the media don't agree with you about the marriages of the stars.

Report
imademarion · 22/07/2013 15:11

We totally adore this progamme, am in it for the crumb, fabulous Mel and Sue and the inventiveness or otherwise of contestants.

That's plenty to keep my little family busy; not interested in being a moral arbiter, I don't think PH's marriage is anyone's business but his own.

I enjoy the show for the contestants - I admire their skill, and I love the way that they all seem to be friendly towards eachother, and supportive. And I enjoy seeing them make something that I might be able to make, if I really practiced, or something that I wouldn't have a prayer of making.

Plus I love Mel and Sue - I want them to come and be my bffs.

I don't know how I missed that when did it happen MadeOF? Was it around the first or 2nd week in June? If so it was because i was deep in preparing for DD2s wedding!!

He does sound fairly repugnant TBH Typical insensitive male Hmm

Report
CruCru · 22/07/2013 14:01

He's probably the worst bit of the show.

Indeed, and how lovely of him to make funny jokes about what a cad he is as well :/

I will still be watching though - but he was never the main attraction for me anyway.

I don't follow celeb news either - but it was pretty hard to miss the TV and mainstream newspaper coverage of his him being "so sorry" for causing his 11 year old son to be sick with stress and nosebleeds etc.. (quite apart from the effect on his wife Hmm )

He chose to devastate the lives of those dearest to him... I do go off people who do that...
