Small pets

raised lymphnode or tumour - hold my hand :-(

Just got back from the vets. Found a lump in my little piggys groin yesterday. Vet thinks it could be a a raised lymphnode but is leaning more towards a tumour in mammary tissue that will need surgical removal.
I've got to leave it alone and feel next Monday for changes. Smaller is good, the same or bigger = surgery.
She's just turned 2 and despite an awful start (she's a rescue) her and her sister mean everything to me. If she needs surgery I will happily pay money.
Has anyone else has experience of this?
I've had a boy who had a bladder stone removed.
would this op be very different to my old boys?
Please no horror stories or telling me to put her down without trying to save her (like my neighbour who saw me crying while hanging up the washing)
Any advice/words of wisdom/support would be really appreciated.

Good Pooh News Grin

DD and I gauge alot about our guineas by their pooh - I can tell where they are sleeping.
I can tell if they are both sleeping in the haybox (their poohs are different) by the pooh nests.
And if they are dehydrated or too much veg.

'Tis a science and a good thing to keep a check on and not in the LEAST bit weird Wink

Poo is completely normal! Now I've just got to keep things balanced and not go constipated. Only 2 days left of antibiotics!

Could be a cyst - they can flucuate in size.
There's a couple of good pages on Guinea-Pig Lynx and Peter Gurney (though he self treats his hogs, I don't think GP1 would be best pleased if I lurched near him with a sharp needle)

Thanks I'll have a look. Don't think my girl would be impressed if I self treated! And I couldn't stand to hurt her......

They are pretty certain its a cyst! Its going squidgy then shrinking which is typical of a cyst! Woooo

So, is she having a cystectomy( not a real word I don't think) or "Scientific Neglect" (ie leave well alone).

Good news that it's not anything malignant.

At the moment we are leaving alone as its draining itself. If it gets bigger its coming out or if it stays the same size for a few months then its coming out.
But most importantly is she's not in any pain, if she gets uncomfortable then its going.
we agreed we didn't want to risk her under a GA if we could avoid it. She's very small and the vet was worried about how her body would cope.
