Today is my Guinea-Pigs "Gotcha Day"

One year ago today we collected our boars from Rescue (they were a year old).

The fur babies create their own mess, washing, bags of dirty hay and have me wandering down the garden to feed them a 6.30 am
(I've never had a pair of adult boars before- had mainly females, one boar and baby pigs when I was a child)
My main worry was that they wouldn't like us but they tolerate us and hide their Judgey Pants disdain very well.

Very jealous myliferocks - loved having a girl or two to cuddle at the end of the day - yours is a grand old age and obviously has a lovely spoilt life, lucky chap! - I think indoor guineas, in general, do have a more pampered life, they are more part of the family and get involved a lot more, I guess for them ' you' are their family so they are satisfied with their lot if they get lots of attention and fun. Its the lonely ones who are ignored that I feel so sorry for, they are so much fun and dont ask for much < sobs, missing her girls alot today. Goes and watches videos of guineas on You Tube> :)

We've had our boar for 5.5 years now. There was 2 of them but one died back in February. Because of he age of the one who was left we decided not to introduce a new piggie.
As a result our boar is spoilt rotten with cuddles as the DC worry that he's on his own.
The piggy thinks it's great and I don't think missed his brother in the slightest.
He's an indoor piggy and loves to sit on some bodies lap while he watches tv. ( that's the GP! )

Oh 70 sorry I missed your gotcha day - it sounds like they have you well and truly wrapped around their little furry paws - I am so jealous! Hope they had a good day and realise how lucky they are! One of our girls had a 'fatty eye' - it gave her a bloodhound look and she always looked rather tearful - had her for 5 years though, she was a little sweetied. Bonkey a house without all the delights you brilliantly describe is miserable I can assure you, cant wait to get my own house again after renting for so long so we can have some more!;)

Aaaah.... We've had our Girlies for 3.5 years now! Time flies!

Last week I bought loads of parsley, leafy celery and sweetcorn (with leaves on) for the boys from the market.
So they had plenty to scoff for their Anniversary

we love our boars to bits too. I was in the supermarket when I realised that most of the veg I was buying was for them and that actually they get more veg than I feed my DC...oops!!!

, just realised I have had my two terrors boys 6months now. Flys by!

Have just bought them some naice twigs and plants to nibble, they were demolished last time. they are currently chasing each other up and down the bars in the kitchen.

They have only been in there 20 mins so far and Little pig has : Pulled and chewed at a carrier bag (no idea where the sod found this) , pushed the divide so far over Big Pigs side that I found him stuck in a corner, pee'd all over the floor and walked through it, and squealed ....well like a pig...at the brush

What would we do without them?

Have more space, a home that doesn't smell of hay and guinea odour, much much less stress, more money, a fridge that isn't taken over by veggies that no human member of the house will eat, be able to open a packet without 'wheeeeeek' ....

Happy anniversary 70 - I'm guessing extra cucumber/parsley for the spoilt piggies.

We also rescued our brood (2 pigs & bun) and have had them all about a year now as well. They make an awful mess but we wouldn't be without them.

Congratulations on your first anniversary with the boys 70 . Weather in good old Essex was murky wasn't it. Did you treat the piggies to any nice food .

They are very spoiled.
In fact my dad looked at their Pighouse and said "Some rough sleepers would be glad of this shed. And the fleeces and heater"

Yes, it puts in in perspective.
But I chose to home the pigs (they were in a Rescue Foster home, so not a cruely/neglect case or anything) so I make sure I do my best by them.

But I admit I probably go just a bit overboard

And The Judgey Pants? They have a rubber trug of hay (their haybox has a pillow,fleece and heatpad). When I give them breakfast they've usually taken themselves into the trug (just to remind me of the Guinea-Pig in the Bucket that was on a rescue website).
My agouti does a good Judgey Face, The black piggle just looks like a bloodhound (little fatty eye)


But we love them dearly.

I can't imagine your babies have any judgey pants. I am of their lifestyle. In human terms they would be living in a mansion with their own cleaner, cook, slaves .....
