My lovely house rabbit has died...need some practical advice.

My lovely house rabbit died at 6 years old. We have nowhere in our small garden to bury him due to tree roots etc. What can we do? We have googled cremation but without sounding really uncaring it seems to cost around £60-£75. These were all pet cemetary type places. Is this average? It's a lot of money, but I feel horrible thinking that.

Could the vet cremate him and give you his ashes?

We can't phone and ask until tomorrow though. He died late last night but it was thundering and lightening and throwing it down so we thought we could wait to bury him until this evening, we tried a couple of places in the garden but there's a pipe in one place and tree roots in another.

Hate the thought of leaving him another night...

Without being too grim, is there enough space for him in your freezer? that would give you time to make other arrangements . The vet will be able to dispose of his body for you is there's no room to bury him at home. You can normally either chose a group cremation where you don't get the ashes back or separate cremation where you do. The group cremation will be cheaper.

I would ask the vet tomorrow morning as well.

My husband has decided to go out and bury him in a nearby field. It's just too sad to leave him any longer.

My last house rabbit is buried in my parents garden much to my mum's disgust as she had chewed a hole in my mum's new handbag! Her and my mum did not get on! Being buried near the blackburrant bush is my rabbit's ultimate revenge.
