Can I wear flowers in hair to a wedding if not part of bridal party?

Sorry to post about this again (yawn)
Dress I'm wearing

Am one of v few invited to v small civil ceremony in morning.
So it's not hat territory but feel that with cardi and flat shoes that I might be a bit casual.
Want to make an effort but fascinator is WRONG

Are flowers OTT?

depends. Hair back in a low, messy-ish bun with a (fake - so it lasts) rose in it would be fine. A crown of ivory roses - overkill.

Don't think I have time for a blowdry - wedding is at 10.30 and in unfamiliar town and dunno how long it'll take to get there from hotel etc
Do have lovely clutch though.

Hmm, bigbadmummy prob has a point too.

I'd spend the money on a blowdry on day of the wedding and get a lovely clutch bag.

LOL at gatecrashing random weddings.

I don't know the bride - know she's wearing ivory and a trad dress but don't know how elaborate it is.
Need to check with her really I guess and also as to what the other gals are wearing hat/headwear wise. Don't think she has any adult bridesmaids either so don't want to look like I'm angling for that job either.
Will try and avoid cardi but may need it for evening do and not sure about weather (it's three weeks time)

How dressy will the bride be?

Just wonder if you're in a maxi (gorgeous dress) and flowers in your hair - you may get mistaken for the bride

I'd try and avoid wearing cardigan with such a lovely dress though.
