Calling all hair colour experts - could I do this?

Currently have a base colour (dark blonde) to cover all the grey, then lighter blonde highlights - but can't afford to get this done again right now.

Could I use the new Perfect10 from Clairol in a dark blonde as a base, and then in a couple of days put a bit a lighter blond through? It's got one of these comb dispenser thingies, so am thinking I could perhaps imitate highlights this way?

Forget the wands and brushes, apply the highlighter with your fingers, much much easier, but wear gloves.

Hmmmm....same with me, long and layered. But honestly, with the big applicator comb I think you'd end up with big stripes rather than highlights! Could you get someone to do the highlights for you? I had my friend do it once. And rule I learned with those kits was, less is more. When I first used them, I put in too many and it just looked too stripey.

I've tried that, but found it hard to use the wand - couldn't see the back, and I have long thick layered hair, so it was hard to put it where I needed it iykwim?

I wouldn't do highlights with the giant comb applicator they have in those things. Why not get one of the kits where you do the highlights at the same time? They come with a special small wand, and then you only need one box. Can't remember the brand I've used, think it's L'oreal? Help someone?
